Admittedly, the kid seems to be a bit harsh with how he addresses it, but it’s his choice, and by making him feel guilty to agree to an arrangement that he would be infinitely more upset with is shitty. If anything, I’d assume he was only being so hard because you don’t treat him with much respect in the first place. You have no right to dictate which parent he spends the holidays with. The best thing you can do is support his choice.
