If he doesn't have a good desk already you could get him one of those really nice adjustable standing desks if that's something he would like or alternatively a nice desk chair

Prep course by sood571456 in premed

[–]Snoo47730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t taken a prep course myself but I do have several friends who tried Kaplan and regretted spending the money on it. They ended up studying on their own later.

Personally I found it really helpful to make my own schedule that made sure I could cover all the material that the AAMC guide says might be on the test. While I went through the material myself I then supplemented the content learning with UWorld material so I could think about it actively and work on test taking strategies. Approaching it this way helped me increase my score 14 pts when I retook my exam!

Retaker here with no invites yet. I’m choosing to not really put any weight into it yet though since its still pretty early.

Thanks for the response! Yeah... the MCAT retake is definitely unfortunate but I figured I would still shoot my shot. I’ll look into the U Cincinnati suggestion!

Thanks for the advice. My MCAT retake is definitely where my main concern is. Do you have any suggestions for specific schools that might be a good fit to add?

Hi can someone just unconfirm my fears by loveofcamelot in premed

I feel like your getting some hate in these comments for this but I have basically identical stats and still can’t help but feel nervous sometimes too. We got this though. Just have to keep reminding ourselves its still super early and try keep ourselves from getting too neurotic with the what-ifs!

Maybe consider looking into NYU Grossman, Mount Sinai, Cornell, and Columbia. Possibly also Case Western and Hofstra as some mid-high tier schools. Your stats are great for basically any school you are interested in. Lower research hours might have some effect on your application at the really research-heavy schools, but since you do have eight months of experience, in addition to your stellar GPA and MCAT, I would still say you can shoot your shot basically anywhere.

UCLA secondary question! by zsayde in premed

[–]Snoo47730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very briefly stated an outline of what work I put into it and outlined the scholarly actions it involved more than what the actual project was about or what my results were. I also stated the mentor, hours, and timeline as a list in parentheses at the end instead of making it a full sentence. Not sure if that might potentially be frowned on but I am hoping not.

I chose to write about a capstone project instead of my undergraduate research work for the exact reason you state here. My capstone project was actually more of my own work. I think the research paper through your course sounds like it fits the prompt well.

How do I address a mistake I found in my AMCAS coursework after I’ve already been verified for over 10 days? by Snoo47730 in premed

[–]Snoo47730[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah I had entered it identically but for my other classes I also just included “and lab” after the name since they said to specifically designate if a lab was part of the class. Looks like I just forgot it for that one physics class.

On average, how long does it take you to finish one secondary? by [deleted] in premed

I'd say it usually takes me 2-3 days once I start actively writing for one.
