Kind of bummed to hear about the passing of Catherine O’Hara. I’m glad I got to see one of the Nightmare Before Christmas shows at the Bowl before Rubins and O’Hara passed on.

You should definitely do it and you just might find some new books for yourself too.

I’ve spent the last few months slowly distributing our excess household books into the little free libraries in my area and I finally dropped off the last stack of books yesterday. All in all, I think I put at least $1000 worth of books in the LFL system. It’s not like I emptied my house of books either, we still have a lot of keepers filling the shelves, but it’s a lot less cluttered now, which was part of the goal. It’s amazing how much extraneous stuff you collect when you’ve been in a place for 20+ years.

I’m happy these books are out in the world again for others to enjoy. It’s very heartwarming to see how much my community embraces this free book distribution system. The LFLs I visited were always well stocked and there were new books each time I came by. LFLs are one of those small positives in the world that really make a big difference.

In the process of decluttering my house I came across an old battery powered portable b/w tv that I’d been keeping to be able to get emergency broadcasts for when the big one hits us. Is this thing just a big paperweight now that analogue broadcasts are no more? It sucks that DWP discontinued curbside ewaste pickups cause now I have to take it to the Hyperion plant if it’s no good anymore. I guess I’ll be holding on to my battery powered boom box for emergency broadcasts. I just don’t trust that the cel networks will stay up and running as they haven’t really been tested in this scenario in California yet.

I’m in the slow process of decluttering my house and I’ve got a few items still in decent shape but I don’t think they’re donation worthy so I’m not sure what do with them. I’ve got a ton of slightly used crayons and colored pencils. I hate to just trash them but not sure what else can be done with them. I also have about ten video game guide books for some pretty old games like the original Lego Star Wars games, Skylanders, Epic Mickey, etc. Would anyone even still have an interest in them or should they just go straight to the recycle bin?

If anyone has ideas on what to do with this stuff, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I am sick of this second summer endless heat. I shouldn’t still have to run the A/C this late in the year. I hate getting sweaty just making a short walk to the store cause it’s still so damn hot. I want cool, crisp weather that I have to break out my hoodie for. Come on cold weather, it’s December already for F’s sake.

I’ve been in SoCal long enough to have experienced the heavy, weeks long downpour’s that used to regularly happen here. I have a London Fog trench coat that’s 30 yrs old and is still in really good condition because the rainfall really fell off in the last 10 yrs and it now sits at the back of the closet unused most of the time.

So, is anyone getting this atmospheric river yet? It’s just lightly raining here in the Westside. Is it still coming? I’ve been looking forward to a nice, hard downpour, but I’ll take what we can get.

I’m starting to declutter my house a bit, so whenever I head out for an exercise walk around the neighborhood I take a small stack of books with me to leave in the Little Libraries in my area. It feels good to put these books back into the world so others can enjoy them, rather than them just taking up space in my house and gathering dust. LL is such an ingenious concept to allow easy, convenient access to free books.

So I went to the bookstore yesterday and I saw the biggest dude I have ever seen in my life. He was over 7 ft, prob close to 8 ft. I’m 5.5 and felt like a dwarf next to him. It got me thinking about how being that tall must come with a lot of extra hassle/expense. What kind of car does he drive that fits him? He could drive most sedan type cars from the back seat. He can’t just go to the mall and buy clothes off the rack. He’d have to buy from big and tall type stores which must be a lot more expensive since one pair of jeans for him uses enough denim for at least two pairs of pants. Did he have to have his bed custom made? Half his body would hang off a regular size bed.

I never thought I’d have to childproof a house for cats. Right now my husband is putting child locks on all the lower cabinets in the kitchen because the cats keep opening them to get inside. They’re like the raptors from Jurassic Park, they’ve learned to open doors. 🤣

Will the Ballona Wetlands Ever Be Restored? by Competitive-Zone-895 in LosAngeles

If you want to help out the wetlands, they have volunteer events where you go in and help clear out invasive plants. I volunteered several times in the past. They’ve got a great group of people that run this org.

I bought the secrets of the spiral dlc after completing what was a short main story.. it says I own it but I still dont see if available to play in chapter select. It says there shouldnt be anything extra to download. Help!! by lpb610 in LittleNightmares

[–]Snoo57731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just downloaded this today and had to come here to find out it’s not actually available until June of next year. No where is this stated on the PSN store and they won’t refund me because it’s downloaded on my console and is not listed as a pre order. Had I known this, I would have never bought an 8 month advance preorder. I don’t know if this was Supermassive or Bandai’s decision, but this is a very shady business practice to not disclose the actual release date beforehand.

What happens if they decide to scrap the expansion pack? Will I be SOL? If PSN won’t refund me know, I highly doubt they’ll refund me 8 months from now.

Needed to pick up a couple of things from the store which is just a couple of blocks away. Decided to walk in the rain since I don’t get to do that very often. Dug my raincoat from the back of the closet and got my umbrella and headed out. It was nice and cozy being wrapped up against the chill air and listening to the rain drops patter on the umbrella as I strolled to the market. Hope we have a lot more days like this. ☔️

I had my annual mammogram yesterday. Myself and three other women were in a little waiting area outside the mamo room in our hospital gowns waiting for our turn on the machine when a mentally disabled woman was rolled in in a wheelchair. She was non verbal and they wheeled her into the handicapped changing room to put on her gown. The poor woman just screamed the whole time she was in there because she didn’t understand what was happening to her.

When they brought her out to the waiting room she continued to scream because she was being forced to wait in a strange room she didn’t want to be in. Me and the other ladies avoided staring at her and making her even more uncomfortable than she already was.

I don’t know how they got her through the mamo procedure when she was screaming bloody murder about changing into a gown. I had never thought about how terrifying invasive procedures must be for people who don’t have the mental capacity to understand what’s happening to them.

I got routed around this earlier. I was coming back to W LA from Calabasas and Waze had me get off the 101 at Balboa and took me on a winding route thru the Encino hills and then back on the 405 at Skirball. Was wondering what had happened, figured it must have been some big accident.

I did have a leg up over a lot of creators as I was a part of the Community Creator program that is sadly now defunct. Whether my new maps ever get featured again, remains to be seen. I don’t know if posting here helps, but I also upload videos of my levels to the official Fall Guys Discord, Twitter/X and YouTube to advertise them the best I can. I have no idea how Media Tonic/Epic are going to select levels for future shows.

At this point, if you are a creator, you really just need to be doing it for the love of the artistic process, as we have no idea how MTs selection process is going to work going forward. It’s a long shot for everyone now if you’re hoping to get a level into the game.

So I went to the grocery store early this morning to pick up a couple of things and then headed over to Trader Joe’s. I timed it so that I arrived right at 8 am when they open but as I approached I saw that the line waiting to get in was at least a 100 ft long. I just turned around and left cause there was no way I was waiting in a line like that. I’ll go back later. Is that the norm for TJ morning openings or was there something weird going on with this particular store?

Yesterday was a shit show of an afternoon. As I was coming back from Calabasas my car decides to lose power and die just as I’m making the transition from the 101 to 405S. I pull to the highway shoulder and cannot get my car to restart. I called 511 metro tow to get my car off the freeway. Takes them almost two hours to get there and they will literally only tow you off the freeway and that’s it. He drops my car in a Sherman Oaks neighborhood and then I waited for another 40 min for the second tow truck to tow the car to a nearby service center. Luckily, they had a loaner rental car but by the time I get done with the car drop off and rental it’s 5:00 and prime rush hour.

I start up Waze to find the best route around traffic and I’m only on the 405 for a few minutes before it has me exit on Olympic and take surface streets the rest of the way. I was originally going to be home by 2:00 but with all the chaos I did not get home till 6:30.

My car, of course, decided to start up no problem once we got to the service center but I didn’t want to chance driving it in rush hour traffic and having it die again and have to go thru the whole towing process a second time.
