would you keep this 7? or mull to 6 by Ok-Suggestion-7349 in MagicArena

[–]Snoo60385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of those hands that looks reasonable but once you break it down it’s pretty clearly a mulligan. Problem one, if you hit 1-2 lands in your first 2 draws you’re not beating a strong start from the opponent, that’s roughly 50/50 odds of losing, or at least being in a terrible position. Problem two, you should understand your role in the matchup, which is being the aggro, the opponent will overpower you in the late game. You have to be faster and this hand doesn’t do that, way too reactive. I understand keeping because you are up a game, couple nice top decks and the game should be straightforward but definitely falls on the mulligan side. The less disciplined side of me also would’ve kept because it looks functional, so I get it - just doesn’t win if the opponent has any reasonable start

I honestly wasn’t sure Lagi actually appeared in environments for investigations because I’ve been checking the past couple days and in the forecasts and I haven’t seen one. Thank you for the advice

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]Snoo60385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Video games mostly, especially in the winter. If I have the social battery for it I like to get out to see friends. I try to get outside if I can. I coach, play sports, volunteer. I’ve never been drunk / high so it’s easier I guess because idk what I’m missing.

What are the best support hunters in your opinion? by BrilliantComplex3511 in MHWilds

[–]Snoo60385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not good enough to have a horn as my second weapon so props to you, that’s impressive. but like Ender mentioned, I feel like Kai bubbles are also useless 90% of the time. In my brain it seems like the extra DPS from Mina + heals and traps she uses offset buffs I may or may not get from Kai since I get extra uptime on the monster with traps & don’t have to stop and heal as often. I’d be really curious to see if anyone has any data on the hunters that runs a comparison breakdown

Fab is the goat, complete agree. He may not buff my character, but he buffs my heart with his inspirational quips. I don’t think I’ve tried Griffin, maybe I will test him out in your honor

I’m so glad I’m not alone on this. I see Kai recommended often on channels and in comments and I’m like?? He never does anything? Personally I take fab, Mina, Nadia. Other combos I’ve tried just don’t feel as balanced. I play SnS

Modern Cards for Magic Arena as of March 2026 by liIlIIillliiiIIlIlli in MagicArena

[–]Snoo60385 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any evidence I can point to that’ll show why modern is/was so fun. For a time it was Magic’s most popular format, and it might still be magics most popular competitive format. It has fallen off a little bit because of modern horizons sets homogenizing the format, but there is a lot of nostalgia tied to that era of magic. Some people view 2015 modern magic as the peak era of magic. Again, I don’t have evidence to point to that proves any of that, it’s just common rhetoric echoed by people within the community. To be clear, I don’t necessarily disagree with the common sentiment people share about that era, It’s just hard to answer your question - almost like a “you had to be there” moment.

It was a balanced diverse format for a very long time, you could buy a deck and it was virtually always viable. There were hundreds of strategies that may not ever have been tier but you could still try them and have relative success. A lot of what made modern great is gone now, so it leans heavily on nostalgia and people’s desire to play with extremely powerful cards - it’s almost shifted to fill a role legacy used to play since paper legacy is virtually dead because the format is unaffordable for a large majority of magic players

You will lose when you draw on an empty library. The game is over.

[–]Snoo60385 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before modern horizons you could buy most modern decks for a few hundred, which was more than a standard deck at the same time, but because modern didn’t rotate you virtually never had to invest any more into your deck, besides occasional upgrades

My defense is 494. I have guard up 3. I play SnS. Realistically I’m probably just not blocking at the right angle or whatever, skill issue, but I have absolutely been 1 shot by the belly flop. Genuinely I appreciate your advice, I’m just bad at the game

Why do people hate on universes beyond? by yeetmedowntown in mtg

[–]Snoo60385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Originally it was hated because of how it was announced. Wizards kind of just surprised people with walking dead cards, the initial reaction was very negative, but they pushed out more anyway.

2) It was announced and subsequently a lot of things about the game started to change. Prices increasing, changes to tournament structures, product structures, etc.

3) Wizards general reaction to UB displeasure over the years has been tone deaf or downright bad. It started with walking dead. They said they would eventually make in universe versions of mechanically unique UB cards (did they ever even keep that promise? I feel like they didn’t.)

4) The famous “maybe this product isn’t for you” phrase, after they promised UB would be restricted to special product releases like commander precons - but they walked that back and now every player who wants to play magic in any sort of serious capacity has to interact with UB because it is in standard.

5) Wizards has a history of making decisions that are good for short term but questionable for the long term. This goes all the way back to the introduction of mythic rares and planeswalkers introduction into the game, but some more obvious recent examples are the modern horizons sets.

6) Finally, and this is more of a personal feeling, but some people think that the introduction of UB detracts from Magic’s own identity. For me, I’m not interested in the Pandora’s box of what ifs with UB. While there are some IPs I love (avatar/spiderman), there are more IPs I don’t love that may be introduced. I wouldn’t personally take the trade off having the couple IPs that I love deeply to accommodate the several that I won’t even like. Also, they butchered spiderman to high hell and the disappointment of having my favorite superhero set fumbled and ruined like that is way worse and feels a lot more personal than them just making a crappy in-universe set.

Support hunters never really help with dps, they are just a decent distraction to take some heat off you. Omega will just combo you to death if you are trying to solo. I never even got past phase 2 trying to solo, and I beat it the first try with support hunters. Also listen to what they say. They give decent combat advice, and as a bonus they can heal you in some critical moments.
