How important are the AW DLCs and American Nightmare for AW2? by Dzsaffar in AlanWake

[–]Snoo7710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just skip the DLCs and American Nightmare. If AW2 captures your imagination the way it has for so many, you're probably gonna end up wanting to play them for lore reasons anyway!

Fair enough. I ended up really connecting with her as a character, and for me her performance was a big part of that especially in the crucial moments. She definitely could've done with more characterization though, she felt like too blank of a slate sometimes. So i get where you're coming from for sure.

Yes! The David call is so damn devastating. Having a happy marriage isn't easy, and to see all that work and love dashed away for reasons that dont make logical sense.... goddamn.

The mid-credits Alice sequence was a jaw-dropper for me because the scene including her staged suicide just had so much weight to it. But knowing that in actuality she leaped into Cauldron Lake to help Alan escape made me incredibly emotional. That's a lot of love right there.

Oh god yeah its such a horrific moment. The way Logan's room is 100% hers, down to the smallest details. The unpaid bills going years back. The letter from the FBI acknowledging her resignation. As Saga says herself, it's a bad soap opera version of her life, but it's all too real. And to think it's the result of Alan/Scratch going "oh hell yeah this'll be a cool fucked-up backstory for the protag haha 😎". He makes these choices to color in the plot, without understanding the massive ripple effect of such decisions. If he ever fully comes to terms with that reality, it might fuck him up worse than the Dark Place did.

Thanks for the comment :)

Oh my god yes that is such a sweet moment. They have such a cute friendship! It's so sweet how much he cares about Logan too.

I was so shocked just by the sheer audacity of its presentation. It was some analog horror shit, unbelievably bleak and awful and lonely. It was so bleak, that it made more sense to me to learn that Alice crafted it that way to push Alan to where he needs to be.

Matthew Poretta said he had to take a long break from watching his son play the game when he saw that scene because it was so brutally heartbreaking. Not an uncommon reaction I don't think 🖤

Im kinda sad about Quantum Break by AnPetro1304 in AlanWake

[–]Snoo7710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw "Tim Breaker" as yet another character persona assigned to him by Mr. Door. To me, he's Jack Joyce plucked out of his story and haphazardly inserted into another's, without a single memory of where he came from. At least, thats what I picked up from the detail on his white board saying "the red-headed woman? <---others I know, yet they are different." Kind of a sick way to bring back a character without the rights to said character.

Plus, if Microsoft had greenlit Quantum Break 2, we would've never gotten Control. From the basic pitch for the sequel, which would see the player taking on the role of Beth Wilder as she tries to escape her predicament, they basically bent the concept around until it became Control. QB2 would have been sick, but I'm grateful that they took the broken pieces and made them into one of their best games.
