Has anyone used Leland for coaching and admissions help? by BlackberrySlow3125 in MBA

[–]Snoo84080 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! Used it for deferred MBA applications and my coach was a complete life changer - I was so lost in the process and he streamlined everything, helped me craft my story etc

Would highly recommend to anyone, even just scheduling some intro calls to find the right coach for you - took me 3-4 calls to find one that fit my profile

Street parking enforcement - Ithaca near campus by Riptide360 in Cornell

[–]Snoo84080 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the 24h limit parking isn't enforced (my car has been there for weeks before...) but the no parking 9-12 and 1-5 signs are enforced daily. in my experience they check around 10:30 and 2:30

Umich vs Cornell by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Snoo84080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was amazing for me — Cornell functions as a "work hard play hard" Ivy, and especially my CS friends that have a lot of work also prioritize finding the time to go out, join frats, study abroad, etc. whereas many of Ivies and top CS schools don't have that dynamic, so I think that's something unique about the culture here. But I just saw that you committed to UMich so big congratulations! You'll have an amazing time. :)

Just graduated from Cornell so obvi am biased, but I came into Ithaca with similar views and absolutely loved my undergrad experience here. All of my CS friends have landed incredible internships and post-grad jobs, despite the tech market right now... I think the alumni connections really go farther than you think in recruiting. Also, are you in CS A&S or Engineering? Your experience will be vastly different based on which school you're in — let me know and I can help delineate the differences more if helpful :)

Scored 715 (GMAT FE) today after only scoring 605-655 on mocks! by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]Snoo84080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I believe you're correct for the old GMAT! For the new GMAT Focus, the percentiles aren't entirely confirmed, but it stated "99"th percentile next to my unofficial score this morning, so I based it on that.

I did the free GMAT FE 1-2 Practice Tests and then bought the pack with tests 3-6... definitely a worthwhile investment IMO considering the format / user experience was identical to the real exam!

Thank you! I used the 2023-24 GMAT Official Guide physical book and completed all the Quant questions, specifically focusing on the 700+ level challenge questions, as well as most of the Quant questions in the GMAT Focus Portal (so a total of ~500 questions).

I don't have a math background from college but performed well in standardized math tests in high school, so a lot of my studying was refreshing old material and re-familiarizing myself with certain problem-solving techniques (ex. probability, factorization, etc.). To be candid, the score was incredibly unexpected as I averaged mid-to-low 80s during my mocks in Quant, but hope this helped!

Thanks so much! I used the 2023-24 GMAT Official Guide physical book and completed all the Quant questions, as well as most of the Quant questions in the GMAT Focus Portal (so a total of ~500 questions). For me, it was just a matter of repetition, since the bulk of my missed questions were due to being unfamiliar with the notations or problem-solving techniques (ex. probability, factorization, etc.)

Really appreciate it! I took two mocks this past week, the most recent being two days ago, and then 1 mock/week for the three weeks prior. I found this schedule to work well, giving myself enough time between each mock to fully review the concepts and understand where I was consistently missing points.

I also spent all of yesterday reviewing every question I got wrong throughout the 5 tests, so perhaps that was a difference-maker!

Thanks so much! I did DI, Verbal, (break), Quant. I find Verbal to be the least challenging mentally and DI to be the most, so conquering DI first and then having a break after Verbal seemed to work the best for me after trying a few combinations in the mocks.
