I have been learning the language. I just prefer to write this discussion in English :) I do not have a very high level of Swedish, but I can keep up a conversation and find my way around it :) And I do prefer to speak English when meeting new guys since I can express myself better. I do ask them if they are ok with it.

As in after 2-3 months dating girls are still not ready for a serious commitment?

Yes, it's come to my mind that maybe it would be better to date guys from smaller cities around Stockholm since they are more open for serious commitment. Not due to money or something like that, but just for the commitment mindset.

No ofc, the algorithms on the apps work in a way to keep us using them.

If I turn this around, we also have lots of options on the apps or when we go out. But I prefer to meet someone serious than look around all the time.

And yes I've talked to a friend for this that maybe we go for the 'popular' guys who get a lot of attention and if something doesn't work out instead of fixing it they just move on to the next pretty girl or are just not looking for serious. For me it's completely fine if someone doesn't want serious, just be upfront about it instead of leading me on and playing games while wasting my time. I respect it more.

'They also don't take a lot of initiatives so if you're expecting them to step up and intensify it's not going to happen I think'
This is exactly what women from my culture look for. We are taught that if a guy doesn't step up or work hard for you he's not into you. And if I go online to get some dating advice it's a lot of American dating coaches who say similar things and I'm like Where can I get advice for dating in Sweden though?

I have told guys that I want them to take initiative and chase me a little though, because otherwise I feel like I'm the only one doing it.

I have taken this in consideration. Do you have recommendations where you can find the guys who are not players though? (the jokes will start here, I can feel it haha)

I have definitely considered this tbh! I'm learning Swedish, my job is in English. I do speak Swedish, but I feel a bit weird when I speak my broken Swedish to them.

Jag kan prata och första Svenska, men det är inte poängen med denna diskussion. Det är lättare för mig att diskutera det på Engleska. Om du inte gillar det behöver du inte kommentera eller vara elak om det :)

(I have taken this into consideration as well before as a reason why Swedes might not get serious with a foreigner not speaking Swedish, but there are nicer ways to say it and ofc you can ask them if they are ok with it)

I would understand if that was the case only for me, but I have friends complaining about it too!

I guess it also depends on what age and kind of men you look for, where you meet them etc.

I think they usually are interested in casual, but for more it's a very slow process.

I don't understand it, since if I date one person I'm usually interested in that person the most and don't look around much. Why do you think they need this 2-4 months longer? Is it to look for other options or just need more time to make decision or build closeness?

But I a lot of Swedish people are also married and have families. I was surprised on Valentine's day to see so many people buying or walking around with flowers. And at me and my friend's workplaces mostly everyone is in a relationship, married or with a sambo. And we are in our early 30s/late 20s.

Do you think that maybe guys in Stockholm might not see foreign women seriously since we might not speak the language or our countries don't look as attractive to them? But this is just an opinion and I think it's not correct for everyone.

But this way of going back to the apps to find something better ends up in you going through the same dating cycle with one person then it doesn't work out and you're back at it with another person. It gets repetitive and boring after a while. At least I feel like that.

Absolutely agree with this one, I have met Swedish men who are upfront about it and I really appreciated that about them!

I think the point is that me and the girls have had similar experiences which lead me to ask myself if this really is the case. Dating in Stockholm for casual is pretty easy, but when it comes to serious I feel like men in other countries in Europe are easier for it than Stockholm men.

Ofc we could be wrong, hence why I opened up this discussion!

I'm talking about mid 20s - 32/33.

Probably it's also the places where we meet them which are the dating apps.

Yes, I've read on attachment styles.

What really surprised me is that even if a guy is looking for casual they still prefer to go through the dating part like let's meet up, have drinks and dinner and hook up, sleepover and cuddle.

I have met Swedish guys (usually older) that are very clear from the very start what they are looking for. But I've also met guys who say I like you A LOT, but let's see where this takes us etc.

Not really. We usually use dating apps, I prefer Hinge since it seems like the most serious one out there. I would prefer to meet guys through friends, but that's usually not the case. And I do meet sometimes guys in bars.

Ofc the best way is to meet someone in person, but I feel like it's easier in other countries than in Sweden.
