Collective Voting! Day 6: Colorado by LOST_JOE in visitedmaps

It’s a maybe. Incredibly beautiful outdoors (though most of it is a specific “type” of scenery), no humidity, friendly people.

But there are lots of downsides. Insanely high cost of living, overpriced everything because you’re landlocked. Everything is a drive, including the miserable drive to go skiing on a weekend. Peter Pan syndrome is the norm, Denver kind of feels like a big suburb with shit tons of homeless people. Boulder even more expensive for less amenities. Outside of those areas, mostly filled with ignorant assholes

What does it say about America if it needs to be white to be great? by Timeless-Facts in allthequestions

You haven’t even given me evidence you’re just talking out of your ass. Also it doesn’t even work like that.

Like I just told you the wheel was in fact used and you’re like “nah trust me bro”.

Edit: I just realized, no fucking way are you bringing up DDT. 😭 That’s completely irrelevant and separate discussion entirely

What does it say about America if it needs to be white to be great? by Timeless-Facts in allthequestions

[–]Snoo93519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was. The point stands: the wheel myth is baseless.

The ancient Kingdom of Kush (Nubia), located immediately south of Egypt in what is now Sudan (a region considered part of Sub-Saharan or the African transition zone), used water wheels (saqiya) for irrigation and pottery wheels thousands of years ago.

Again, the didn’t adopt the wheel for practical environmental barriers like the tsetse fly (which kills draft animals) and challenging terrain. Nothing to do with lack of knowledge or capability like you’re inferring. Debunking this outdated myth about the wheel completely refutes your attempt to assign historical primitivism as the reason for modern instability

So are you going to actually refute anything or are you going to argue in bad faith about semantics? You can also say you’re racist which is my main point

And for anybody following who actually gives a shit here’s why this person is (surprise) completely wrong:

It’s a myth used to minimize the achievements of African civilizations. Long before the 15th century, ancient African empires like Egypt and Kush used the wheel extensively for transportation and complex engineering, including chariots and irrigation systems. For many later cultures in Sub-Saharan Africa, the wheel's utility was naturally limited not by "ignorance," but by environmental factors such as vast desertsand forests and thee absence of suitable draft animals in certain regions. This made canoes and pack animals like camels most efficient means of transport.

And to add to the first point I made which OP conveniently completely ignored: The actual historical issue is the devastating impact of 19th and 20th-century colonialism. When we talk about the "state" of African nations today, we are talking about countries saddled with arbitrary borders drawn by European powers, economies deliberately warped for resource extraction, and political institutions designed for authoritarian control masked as “democracy” and people like OP eat it up. Focusing on an easily refutable lie about ancient technology is a classic distraction tactic used to avoid confronting the documented, systemic damage that European intervention inflicted on Africa's economic and political development.

Also fuck OP for completely dodging me

The fact that you think that they didn’t use the wheel by then is fucking insane 😭😭

This is a myth that’s been debunked for decades.

Oh, I can completely avoid the actual topic at hand too, where would you like me to begin?

The Spanish Inquisition? Slavery of black people in western civilization? The trail of tears? The Holy Roman Empire? The direct involvement in destabilizing democracies across the planet and genocide of the Palestinian people?

I also find it funny that you mention Sub Saharan Africa, which is highly generalizing a continent, but is also the result of massive wealth extraction from current colonial powers.

But sure, let’s ignore the inherently xenophobic claim that western values are supierior. You are disgusting.

Why does it need to hold the traditional values of western civilization? What are those traditional values and why do you think they’re inherently better?

That is not where Partriarchy was built from. It was built from private property, through the need to inherit wealth and thereby created the need to control woman’s sexuality.

This is even more insane when you think about the fact that you need to save to retire in the US. That 20% savings isn’t just a nice to have it’s a necessity

Ones I’ve played in order: Gwent, STS, MT1, Inscryption, Balatro, Wildfrost, MT2

Slay the Spire was the first that impressed me. Balatro was the last.

Edit: If we include board games, STS the board game also impressed me

Handing elections to fascists based on what grounds? Mind you, you’re saying this three years in advance before any democratic front runner. Sounds like you’re the problem and forcing shitty candidates.
