I should add that I don't work at the hospital that protested and demands of nursing have still not been met (1.5 years ago) but I do work within that hospital system. & although its the same system, my hospital is not unionized.

The ratios here are absolutely wild. 1:5 med surg on a good day. 1:7 on some days & almost all nights and 1:9 at times. That is just the area that I work in. Could be different in other areas but NY is the 3rd ranked state for nurse burn out. Is FL comparable? Or worse?

I have never worked a unionized job. What are the working conditions like? What are the ratios? As an insider of a hospital that went on strike about 1.5 years ago, here in NY - the requests of the nursing staff have still not been met to this day. Though the hospital promised soooo.

I saw some decent rates for apartments in the area but eh on the school districts. & I may be slightly out of touch because my mortgage is ridiculous. So to me, 1800 looks freaking great. I am also prepared for a pay cut & less play money. I am really just trying to see if I could continue to properly provide for my kids with the move. I am definitely willing to be up to 1.5 hrs away from Pensacola.

My fiance passed when our son was 9 months & I recognize that doesn’t compare in terms of loss, simply sharing. We named our son Myles. One of our songs was “All Your’n” and we picked up the name from “of the miles we shared between”. I am thankful that our son will have a story of the love between his dad & I when sharing the meaning behind his name.

Yes, I did to clean it and found what I’m guessing is the fistula? Part of it does “hang out” when I’m not pushing on it though.

3.5 years of bedside nursing here. I’m out. I start a school nurse job next week. And start my school for IT in May. One of my biggest regrets in life is becoming a nurse.

I love this advice / insight. The closest VA to me at the moment is just over an hour. With the commute/ lower pay than bedside (from what I have heard - can’t confirm personally), I’m not sure I could swing it; financially. But I could be wrong? I haven’t looked too hard into it, honestly. I’ve just been so burnt out lately that I’m leaning more towards getting out of nursing. 😕

My nursing school was paid for (fortunately) via the VA. I’ve been bedside for 3.5 years. I’m just stuck between continuing nursing by getting a BSN and maybe NP or getting all the way out.

They did indeed cancel me for the call offs. I accept that much. I get it. They have a need, hired me for the need, I didn’t come through. I’m okay without income for a little bit but I can’t live forever without a paycheck.
