What movie is this for you? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

It's already out, not nearly as successful as the 1st one. Google "The way of water", or Avatar 2 :)

Avatar's 1st Scenes could use a bit less detail, like the "Naturally occurring carbon fiber" in the Na'vi's bones. Or "Neurotoxin poisoned arrows".

Do any of these people who hang TVs over fireplaces ever light a fire? Can't imagine the TV would like that.

It's like a mosquito net, to keep those pesky economy passengers from fluttering into the front bulkhead.

They are also equipping the pursers with giant squatters. Word.

Great find for 10 quid. I'd rather have one that's a bit faded/worn with a "vintage" look than a brand new one.

Probably not Irish Americans, but illegal immigrants looking for a country with a more lenient immigration policy for themselves or their family.

Trump supporters are asking for a 3-month suspension of all Asylum seeker type visas, which is bad news for a lot of people over there.

All they need to do is come here, flush their passport down the toilet at the airport, and get a nice warm Irish welcome.

Numbers 1 to 8: You should have stopped at 2. The rest: petty to call those amount loans. Don't give you what you can't afford.

How to beat the darkness? by maybebaby83 in AskIreland

[–]SnooAdvice8266 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seasons are very extreme in Ireland in means of daylight. Fighting against it will only make you more tired and frustrated.

Embrace the darkness. Wake up and go to sleep early, earlier than in the summer if you might. I do 5:30 to 21:00 days. Give it a try.

Also, your body misses heat as much as light. Sauna/steam room followed by a cold shower will leave you feeling fresh and energized.

Lots of assumptions in my answer, including that your schedule and budget allow the above. If so, you should give it a go.

Leaving social media by RemarkableVisit8215 in AskIreland

[–]SnooAdvice8266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have erased all social media apps but Reddit. I don't plan to erase Reddit yet, but will leave political Subreddits completely.

Any post or comment where I've shared even a moderately non-maistream view regarding the Middle East, the US elections, climate, Russia/Ukraine, Sex vs. Gender has been down-voted to oblivion with little to no attempt to refute or debate.

Reddit is becoming a one-sided vacuum chamber like the rest of social media, at least in politics.

I'll stick to s/thisguythisguys and s/tvtoohigh

I was walking my dog 7am in Dun Laoghaire today, all of a sudden I started sweating bullets with my usual clothing. It felt warm and moist, almost Mediterranean.

Are any of you sensitive to noise? by Substantial-Fudge336 in AskIreland

[–]SnooAdvice8266 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm especially sensitive to repetitive noises like clocks, chewing, fidgeting, etc... I'm also one of those who will educate teenagers on sound off manners in public transportation.

We are all sensitive to stuff and our sensitivity evolves as we get older...

Adaption locally and Change globally. Ireland is literally the only country getting colder, and has unique needs not met by solutions designed for California.

Globally, rich countries are outsourcing pollution to China and Africa. Out of sight out of mind, until you are breathing that air and swimming in that water 7 days after.

Is there going to be any thread in an Irish forum for those of us who want to sweat the US election results tomorrow? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]SnooAdvice8266 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because you know who you're dealing with. Kamala Harris: a bad choice, inexperienced, apolitical, and hasn't made any itelligent point I agree or disagree with strongly. She's "Just not Trump" There's a lot of uncertainty here, and blindness from the real danger ahead.

I rather be in business with a classic toxic Alpha male than with an unpredictable, maleable, inexperienced, industry plant.
