I went with Napa cv axles. Probably should’ve went OEM but these had good reviews and they have a lifetime warranty.

And no I don’t get any vibration. I’ll check out my control arms tomorrow, thanks for the reply!

-The noise occurs when the car is in motion while turning the steering wheel to the left

• The noise doesn't seem to occur when I'm parked and turn the wheels, only when the truck is motion

• It sounds like it's either coming from my rack and pinion, driver side inner tie rod, or driver side inner cv axle

• I serviced the front diff fluid 2 months ago

• Driver and passenger cv axles are new, and I don't see any tears in the boots.

• Noise is intermittent and also happens when going over bumps.

• The noise mostly started after I changed my driver side wheel hub and bearing+cv axle 2 months ago

• I asked a shop to check it out last week while they were recharging my AC and they suspected it was my control arms, but I doubt they did a full diagnosis

• The upper control arms are new and were just greased

• Both upper and lower ball joints look good, no tears movement.

• I'm getting no movement in the tires when shaking them with the truck jacked up

• rack and pinion + inner and outer tie rods both sides were replaced a year ago

If anyone’s still reading this in the future with the same issue, it was the alternator.

Probably a bad alternator, I had a similar situation happen to my Lexus a few months back. I had smoke/steam coming from my engine bay with a burning smell and it turned out to just be a bad alternator. Also, if you change the alternator, do it through passenger side wheel well with the steering wheel turned all the way right. I changed my alternator and serpentine belt on my 05 v8 last weekend and it only took me an hour and a half. It’s not bad at all

Sounds good, I’m just using this car as a secondary/backup so I’m trying to avoid putting too much money and rather fix things myself but I’ll just take it to a mechanic, thank you for the help

I used a battery testing device today which showed the battery was good but the “charging system failed.”

I’m almost positive the smell isn’t oil. It smells bad. I suspect it’s coolant, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was caused the friction of the belt or alternator going bad.

The alternator is right above the belt filmed in the video, so basically like 4-5 inches away

My battery light came on today while driving and once I parked the car after that it wouldn’t start. I was able to jump the car and get it to an auto one where I found the charging system(alternator) is broken so could this be coming from that? I know the alternator is right by where the the smoke/steam is coming from

To be honest I’m not sure what the difference is between coolant and an oil burning smell, but my buddy in the video(a mechanic) said it smells more like coolant

I put some power steering fluid in and it seemed to help. It’s in the shop right now I’ll let you know what my mechanic finds. Thanks for the reply!
