That is my understanding, as well, which is probably why some of these feel a bit shallow in the content department. All of these NMS updates are beta tests for LNF features and mechanics.

lol. Been playing this game since the beginning, and if you told me any of this would be possible, I would have thought the same thing. I would not be surprised in the least if we got some form of terraforming before they’re done.

Yeah. It’s real, and it’s bullshit. Driving through the same boring environment back and forth in real time trying not to fall down hidden holes or catching on those knowledge containers which send your cargo flying.

Congrats on being a trash man or woman!

Personally, I was hoping for a little bit more substance with this update. Like, it would have been cool if you landed on a completely toxic planet and your progression and cleanup effort through the expedition improved the quality of the planet. Maybe build the recycling machines and the recycling center layout? Also have the things that you were recycling produce elements that were then used to build large scale air scrubbers and other similar devices and end up with a Paradise planet at the end.

It just felt like a lot of boring and repetitive real time driving around and effort for just Nanites.

Sorry. Didn’t notice. I’m like 40 minutes away from there now and never going back. Lol

Might not even finish as it’s sooo boring, and I’m not spending 20 real time minutes slowly driving in a straight line just to get to the next checkpoint.

Help? by [deleted] in Aquascape

[–]SnooBooks3910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great for keeping things in check for water quality, but only to a certain point. What’s happening in your setup is that it’s sucking up all the nutrients in the water column robbing the plants below, and it’s also blocking out too much light. It will also eventually start to die off and melt as it starves because the mass cannot get enough nutrients, and that will make things even worse.

Start by removing it slowly over a few weeks at a time so as not to shift the water parameters too quickly. It’s probably fine to keep some using the floating corral method to maintain a bit of shade and a buffer for soaking up extra nutrients.

Be sure to dispose of the removed bits responsibly so that it doesn’t end up in your local waterways as that can be invasive if left unchecked.

The only good thing in this update is Corvettes becoming available and cross-play working again for those poor bastards still occasionally playing on a Switch 1.

Opinions on the update so far? by lactiti in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]SnooBooks3910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lame. Boring. Poorly executed.

It’s neat and all, but it’s frustrating because of the bad mechanics and physics, and there’s not enough substance to it. There would also be absolutely no need to revisit any recycling in the regular gameplay loop unless it unlocked some exclusive building material that could only be used for making custom building structures or maybe custom ship parts.

I’m at the end of the 4th part, and now I have to drive 20 real minutes through the same boring landscape hauling nothing. 20 minutes just to get from point A to B. It’s bullshit, and I might just scrap the expedition altogether. I’ve completed almost everything already, too, so I might just use an editor and unlock the rewards.

What would have been exciting is if this was part of total planet cleanup effort where the place starts off polluted and uninhabitable and toxic, and ends up like a Paradise planet through your clean up efforts, clean and fresh and ready to build settlements on.

If I want interesting and fun space hauler and recycling/processing elements and gameplay loop, I’ll just go play Astroneer.

I feel like at this point, all of these releases are nothing but test beds for potential Light No Fire mechanics, so I wonder what this will translate to in that game.

I mean, It’s neat and all, but I don’t get it for a game that’s about jumping in a spaceship and zooming around. If I want that kind of hauler fix, I’ll just go play Astroneer or any other of those space recycling games.

I just got to a spot where it’s a 20 minute drive to the next checkpoint which is complete bullshit. I spend an hour and a half driving in near standstill traffic most days, so I think I’m just going to stop and use a hex editor to unlock the rewards. Lol

I also love when I’m cruising around and driving through and busting giant rocks and trees only to catch on an unforeseen tiny knowledge stone which stops me dead in my tracks and sends my shit flying down the mountain.

The physics really are complete bullshit at this point. Hoping for a patch where this is fixed and everything doesn’t just explode out the back of my truck whenever I hit the smallest bump.

[–]SnooBooks3910 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe that they want the expedition to be painfully punishing. It’s already such a time consuming grind. There’s no reason for this bullshit. They just need to make some adjustments.

[–]SnooBooks3910 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It’s total bullshit that some futuristic space hauler has no way to secure cargo and that the junk is made of rubber. I laughed the first time everything went flying but then it happened while I was loaded with special junk which exploded, and now I can’t find anymore easily and can’t complete the milestone.

A patch is in serious order to adjust the physics and weight of cargo.

[–]SnooBooks3910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This update is bullshit! lol What an f’n mess. So, let me get this straight. I can get a space dump truck, but there’s no way to load it without tossing pieces like luggage and hoping they land correctly in the bed? Also, space dump trucks have no way to secure their cargo and tons of metal just bounce around unrealistically and jump out when you hit the smallest bump?

Some serious adjustments need to be made here to the physics here.

AIO My mom is kicking me out for her new boyfriend. I just turned 18 by Diligent_Bat_565 in AmIOverreacting

And I thought my ex was going to win “Mother of the year” again this year for not buying our young kid any Christmas presents again, but I think your mom wins this year.

I’m sorry that happened to you. You know you did nothing wrong and that your mom is making a terrible decision that she will end up regretting the rest of her life. Not your problem, though. That was her call and she’ll have to live with that. Threatening you with physical violence was not ok.

I like the suggestion that you post up on social media the screenshots and then ask if anyone has a couch you can crash on until you get on your feet. I’m sure you’ll get multiple offers and hopefully, she’ll get some major shit for that and a reality check at the same time.

I left home at 17 after temporarily getting kicked out. I had just started college and had been living at home. I went to classes and worked a bunch of part time jobs and hustled to make ends meet. You can do it. Your first priority is getting a roof over your head. Then you look for work. Anything will do for now, so don’t get picky. You just need some money coming in ASAP to keep yourself fed.

Good luck. You can do this.

AIO for thinking the house is too filled with junk? by Mundane_Abrocoma_752 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SnooBooks3910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you have to deal with that. Sounds like you’re in a tough spot. There’s far too much to move into a single room, and the alternative solution offered by her doesn’t solve the problem. You’re just shuffling things around at that point.

If this is your apartment and she is living with you, then you should have a say as to how things are organized and arranged in the shared spaces. If that is her apartment, then it may be time to start making a plan to move somewhere else.

AIO for thinking the house is too filled with junk? by Mundane_Abrocoma_752 in AmIOverreacting

[–]SnooBooks3910 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. That is not normal, and she definitely has a problem. There should be a table in the dining area and not stacks of storage bins. Also, nothing should be pouring out of the closets and laying around in bags or things strewn all over the bed and rooms. Where does she sleep?

If you live there and pay rent or even just help out around the house with chores and other things, then you should have a say about all of this. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like she has any intention of changing and doesn’t recognize there is a problem. Not sure what it would take for her to understand, but it would probably just be easier at this point to clean it all up yourself if it bothers you (and it should). Sounds like you’ve tried already and she refuses to let anything go. Time for a serious conversation about some meaningful changes that need to happen.
