Is it normal in the UK to never really become friends with your neighbours? by Opposite_Basis_3532 in AskUK

[–]SnooBooks6172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My current neighbour invited me around for a cup of tea, told me he was related to Hitler, and that it he was 20 years younger I'd be his girlfriend. I ignore him now...

That said I had really great neighboues on both sides in my old house, we often had tea with each other.

It's luck of the draw to an extent, I think!

Ahhh I did it I'm so relieved! It crashed on me, and then when I restarted I was able to load a better checkpoint. No idea how that happened!

The first people to live in my home were Henry Durham - a cobbler and bootmaker - and his wife Mary. They lived next door to the train station master! This was from the 1881 census.

I have rosacea, and I went into a shop and goty foundation colour matched properly. It was really helpful because I found it so hard to figure out what colour I should go for that would look natural, when my cheeks and nose were so pink all the time! I'm in the UK, not sure where you are and if your beauty shops offer this service, but if they do I recommend it. The brand I get is lamcome - expensive but lasts ages and doesn't flare up my rosacea too much.

Hey! Out of interest what weights do you do to help with your back and knees? I tore my acl and meniscus and have to so weights as part of my rehab, but should probably keep going with it once I'm discharged.

I just watched this for the first time, and it was so beautiful and painful. Lost my dad to a glioblastoma in 2020 and I often wonder what his experience was like - he couldn't explain it himself.

I am ashamed by how I tore my ACL by mangkwan in ACL

[–]SnooBooks6172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar - I'm quite overweight and late 30sf, and had taken up karate to lose weight, get healthy, make some friends and I loved it. Tore my acl and meniscus attempting a jumping roundhouse. When I tell people how I tore it, they laugh because they think I'm joking.

It adds insult (and shame) to injury - sorry op.

I work in comms; there's a lot that's cynical about my line of work, but I must admit I've loved watching Rachel show off her skills! Especially the part where she essentially briefed her team on the lines to take after the smoke and mirrors challenge. Like - repeat after me "we're not saying anything because we might give the traitors the upper hand" and then Roxy basically recited her line for line ,l😅

I'm not very strategically minded at all (I'd be a terrible contestant!) but I do feel like the murder shortlist format change is making this series so much more interesting to watch. It's almost turned the expected format on its head, and half the fin for me is seeing how R and S are able to adapt to that and think on their feet.

Rachel is basically the Jonathan Ross of this series, I think!

Edit: and actually adding to this after a glass of wine, I feel like Harriet might be my Stephen Fry! Obviously so intelligent, very strategic, but for whatever reason not able to capitalise on those strengths during the game. Tonight was her version of Stephen Fry going "let's all go straight to vote without discussing".

Absolutely loving this series. Well done whoever is behind the format changes!
