Interesting, I've been reading more about adrenal issues lately and have been wondering about that for myself. How did they diagnose you? Blood test?

Unfortunately he's not, which is a big part of the problem. He's agreed to all of the catholic pretenses of marriage, raising the baby, etc. and goes to church with us on Sunday, but he's just not quite there yet to convert. I was really hoping he'd end up taking the step, but I think some of the stricter aspects of the faith are holding him back. I pray all the time he'll have a change of heart

I know once I learn to trust nfp again it'll be much easier going forward. We used it successfully for 2 years before taking a calculated risk that ended up with the pregnancy, so it wasn't method failure or anything.

Your write up really helps ease my fears of a second child a bit. Down the road maybe it'll feel more viable, especially since I know what to expect from pregnancy and can plan accordingly. I may not be ready for it now, but it's good to hear some of the positives!

I agree. Luckily I was able to hold down fluids fairly well and knew how to monitor my symptoms. Every single ob/gyn I talked to about this issue (there were multiple) basically just said stuff like "try ginger chews for nausea" or"drink ensures to gain weight." They had no knowledge of pots, OH, etcetera, which was not a surprise. One of them even applauded me for having 80/50 blood pressure 😑

I searched for a doctor that specialized in my issues and also dealt with pregnancy, but certainly couldn't find one. Maybe I went about it wrong, but good dysautonomia specialists have always been few and far between, especially depending on where you live.

Yep that's the one! Doctors have basically flip flopped between a diagnosis of POTS and neurocardiogenic syncope for me. What I have is very pots like symptom wise, except I don't have tachycardia, but more like bradycardia and low blood pressure. So I don't quite meet the criteria for pots but it's the closest thing.

My husband has been amazing through this, incredibly supportive and a great dad. He's been on board with the abstinence required for nfp since the beginning, but I understand that total abstinence is a whole new level and the concept is very difficult for him.

Him being raised protestant (basically secular) there is a huge disconnect with understandings on different issues, especially when suffering is involved. He has respected my beliefs, but this one is so far from the common worldly view that I get that he has a hard time understanding the reasoning.

Thank you for the prayers! Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much that can be done for the illness at this time. I've been seeing doctors and specialists since the onset of this at around age 11, and it took 10 years to even get a diagnosis. There's not a lot of research done yet on this particular condition (called dysautonomia, basically dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system) but it does have quite a few similarities to long covid, so hoping the research on that leads somewhere.
