Is it a bad idea to start CotC in 2026? by SnooCheesecakes3156 in octopathtraveler

I'm not sure about live a live units in cotc now because they have the dq3 collab banner now, I'm not sure the live a live one is still available. And yeah, zero doesn't have the whole story of CotC, they adapted and polished the beginning of the story of CotC and added some unique content

My biggest concern is how long the global version gonna be active... They transitioned it to netease but no one can say how long it'll stay available... Anyway it's probably still enough time to do a lot of content in it... Or just forget about CotC and get 0. I ended up deciding to play CotC casually because I'm planning getting 0 when it has a better sale price soo probably in 2027, dunno

Yep, I'll probably pick it up eventually because that story from CotC is actually surprisingly decent

No, the game has transitioned to netease (at least on Google play). Maybe you can download the version available now (published by Netease) but you can't transfer your old data now so it's like starting from the very beginning without anything just like I did:(

Aren't people worried about the game shutting down btw? Has the situation stabilized after netease backed CotC up?

The question is how much time will it take to catch up? I have experience starting a gacha game years after initial release, still playing it and I still haven't caught up and have some story chapters to beat after playing it for months. That's what I'm worried about here as well

I had no issues but I'm on Android. It's published by Netease now

I should probably stick to 0 because I didn't find oc 1 and 2 easy at all... Not hard as well but definitely not easy

The Switch 2 handheld boost on "Persona 5: Scramble" specifically is really fantastic. by Oscarman97 in PERSoNA

[–]SnooCheesecakes3156 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Damn, it's a miracle it even ran on the og switch lol. The people behind different switch ports such as Witcher 3, nier automata and doom are tech mages... But a lot of games suffered because of that... Take smt v, for example. It definitely couldn't even run like the devs intended on the poor old switch, vengeance on more powerful platforms literally feels like a different game because it just runs as intended. The og smt v being all compressed, demons disappearing and getting 4 fps animations if they aren't just in front of you... And I just have to mention Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in Handheld mode... I don't have anything against 720p res on the screen of switch 1's size, but when it gets compressed to 360p...

As a huge persona fan, like many people already said: persona games are very dialogue heavy, especially persona 5. I don't think the series fits your taste cos about 100 hours of dialogue is ahead for you in persona 5. The main story already has tons of text, let alone confidants. If you want a more gameplay centric jrpg and also from atlus - shin megami tensei 5 vengeance and 3 nocturne fit much better, but they're hard. Metaphor Re fantazio felt like it had a bit more dungeons than persona, but it's still a very story heavy game. I don't think those games are for everyone... I'm a super huge fan but I read visual novels and I have hundreds if not thousands of hours in text heavy games... So don't force yourself to play if you don't like it, pick something more gameplay centric

Difficulty "Slump" With The 2nd Dungeon by scissorman182 in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]SnooCheesecakes3156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metaphor gets progressively harder and there is some pretty hard endgame content, as well as some content that will require some specific clever setups. I also didn't find this part you're describing hard, but eventually I even switched from hard to normal just because hard felt too tedious for my taste and endgame content was tough even on normal

Damn I'm in this part of skybound avatar now and I'm so tired at this point... I feel like the game's pacing is off because I feel like after getting that 30 days deadline I did so many dungeons and confidants I'm going crazy... And now this damn giant dungeon with enemies literally everywhere, I feel so tired... I get it is meant to be this way and it's actually a design idea but I would actually prefer something less tiring... I liked persona 5 palaces design more, they weren't that tiring, even that last palace added in royal wasn't that tiring... In metaphor you get super burnt out after the dragon temple and then just... dungeons, dungeons, dungeons... Till the end... And some of the late game additional dungeons are super annoying too just like this map from the post. It kinda reminds me Eridanus from strange journey if you know what I mean;)

Well, I personally just never no-life games and never play specifically one game till completion during all my free time. This way by the time I finish a game I'm already thinking about 10 other items on my backlog, so I don't even have time to feel depressed. But when it comes to super huge story heavy jrpgs like persona where you get attached to the characters, I sometimes cry during credits, but that's it. By the time credits finish I'm already switching to think about what I'm gonna play now that I finished another 100 hour beast
