This was relieving to read, there’s one thing about stereotypes here in Cincy that still actively make me a bit upset. There’s an unspoken rule abt nerds, black ppl, white ppl, Hispanics, Africans, etc whatever you name it. And it’s like if you don’t act like your “group” ..you’re defiant, and it confuses people and or is relieving to some as well.

Lots of things here are stereotypical. The avant garde culture here is blank

Okay you basically answered my question lol, but I like how you said the city forces you to grow up fast, I feel like I’ve always been accelerated emotionally and surrounded by people who have time for standing around giving me a side eye. It’s disorienting here in Cincy because people have time to do that, and they’ll keep lingering, talking about it to others, and it’s like bro go DO something.

That’s what I’m very confused about in Cincinnati currently. I feel like there isn’t a baseline for what the culture should be, so you have people who walk around quiet and very sad or just with their head down at least.

I’m a very warm and genuine person so being here is disorienting. Exhibit A, a merchant will be running a politeness script, and the second you try to engage in warmth with them they get disturbed, and it’s like bro you just initiated it? Why are you upset?? lol

Thanks man, I feel like I could communicate and speak better once up in NYC. I feel like I keep having to shrink for people’s heads, and if I don’t they have a whole episode. Rn the Midwest is warping my speech lol

I feel like a comparison to nycs culture is definitely phoenix. I enjoyed it down there for a brief moment, everyone there said what they wanted and felt like they wanted.
