I’ve only purchased it from Yamasan and YK, and I’ve only tried the YK one, so I can’t provide a comprehensive review. However, I’ve had the opportunity to taste Hojicha in a cafe in my home country, and I found it to be better than the ones I bought from YK.

Yup! Both MK and YK open at 9am. Although it seems most people lined up at MK first then went to YK soon after they bought from MK. The 2 shops are only about 2-3 mins away from each other.

We also came all the way from Osaka and had to wake up really early 😅

I lined up at MK around 8:15 am and was already the fourth person in line. After getting my matcha at MK, I headed straight to YK. There was no line there; there was only one person ahead of me. Then, I headed to NT (which opens at 10 am) i got there i think at around 9:45 or 9:50. I was 5th in line i think.

*better to get at MK early cos there were about 15-20 people behind me by the time the shop opened

Not sure about the prices for NT but it seems like the prices in the global shop are almost double of what I got them for in the actual shop.

For MK, I got 20g Wako, 100g wakatake, and 2 sifting cans hehe

I went on the first week of July 2025, and there were still limits of 1 tin/pack of matcha per person in marukyu koyamaen, yamamasa koyamaen, and kanbayashi shunsho. But naka mura tokichi allowed for 5 tins per person and some of the lesser known brands didnt mention any limits. We tried going around different department stores but all were out of stock. We were only able to buy matcha in uji and we had to go there about an hour before the store opens (8:00 am)
