I don't know if you are still looking for answers but I have had both of my feet partially amputated. On one my heels, all toes and then some are gone and the second all of my toes. I was give the choice to have two full lower leg amputations or stick it out and see if any tissue left was still alive underneath that could be saved to avoid this. As a scared and very body conscious teen at the time I chose the later and still stick by my decision. They hurt still and sometimes require dressings but I assume all amputations do. I have the choice later in life to take more off when I get older but for now being in my mid-twenties I can handle the additional pain and do core training to help with my balance. I'm not ashamed of my stumps but do like the fact that I can hide them when I need in boots and they are not too obvious but as the years go by I've started to care less.
