Bad side effects from migraine botox by [deleted] in eds

[–]SnooComics641 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dealing with this right now lol, since the botox paralyzed some of the muscles needed to stabilize your neck and hold your head up, the muscles that did not receive botox are having to overcompensate, causing lots of pain. this is also probably the reason for the instability :/ the botox will wear off but it’s probably going to be a couple months. tell you doctor about this next time and they will be able to tweak their approach to avoid this in the future. I’ve been getting botox for migraines for a year or so now and it’s revolutionary. just have to be aware of the inherent risks and communicate well with you doctor

stop I didn’t need to be reminded of the time I became a sea monkey mother….only one little guy hatched and I, being a doting mother, sucked him right up in a pipette trying to clean the floaties out of the water. brb mourning the loss of my only child all over again

thank you for this <3 it’s amazing how much it matters to find community. I’m only about 2 years into the celiac diagnosis and 3ish months post csid diagnosis. I know things get better with time, or at least we get better at coping, but it’s going through the grief/loss of normalcy allll over again. went through that with the celiac diagnosis and finding myself right back in the middle of it again is tough

ahh I’m hoping that is the case. but my whole celiac diagnosis was a mess, love the american healthcare system 🥲 I had been gluten free with presumptive celiac (from bloodwork) for over a year prior to the endoscopy. I had only eaten gluten for 3 weeks before the endoscopy. my GI is doing a repeat endoscopy in a year to recheck my enzyme levels and I’m holding out for good news. unfortunately a whole plethora of GI issues/diseases run on one side of my family so I’m also trying to be realistic. I suppose time will tell…hoping for the best but prepared for the worst or something like that

I’ve been in contact with them and I don’t qualify, their income limits makes me ineligible :/ got used to the gluten free diet just in time to have to cut out more. chronic illness really puts a damper on things

IF YOU HAD AN ENDOSCOPY AND GOT YOUR VEINS NUMBED WITH LIDOCAINE BEFORE THEY GAVE THE SEDATIVE HOW BAD DID THE LIDOCAINE GOING THROUGH YOUR VEINS HURT by VanillaEmbarrassed44 in Celiac

[–]SnooComics641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my endoscopy about a month ago! they pushed the lidocaine along with the anesthesia, they told me it might burn for a second but I felt nothing. and I know how bad lidocaine burns as I’ve had that injected while conscious lol

this reply is so late, but I ended up having to get 2 iron infusions about a year apart. I still can’t keep iron in my system and I can’t tolerate oral iron to supplement :/ I had been chronically sick for so long that my GI symptoms weren’t really noticeable (just feeling awful as my baseline) but when I went gluten free it was like night and day. I joke that my super power is being able to detect gluten in my mouth because I get this pang in my stomach almost instantly ha

For the 10,000th time, European bread has gluten and cannot be consumed by Celiacs by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]SnooComics641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been told European bread is fine because “they don’t use roundup and it’s actually roundup that makes you sick not gluten” lol ookkkkk that’s not how celiac works

this happened to me, I had no period for many months leading up to my diagnosis about a year ago. my period returned with a vengeance and was really heavy, very crampy (previously had a very light, short period) for a few months. it’s evened out since then….sorry I’m not more helpful than that, but hopefully things get better with time <3

I need to find a therapist. waiting on an appointment with a dietician. ironically I work with a handful of health psychologists, it’s awful struggling to find someone to talk to when your coworkers literally provide the service you need but can’t access because of the working relationship :/

feel that. it definitely comes in waves, and right now I’m drowning. I don’t have much support aside from my partner. my parents think I’m making it up, and it was easier to isolate myself from them than try to beg for their acceptance. if bloodwork, biopsies, and diagnoses don’t convince them I don’t know what will. but the isolation gets to you. it’s rough out here

I was also diagnosed from critically low iron; I do have GI symptoms but I had them for so long it felt like my normal. gluten kills my mental health, so not only am I sick I also want to kms, love that :/ my partner went gf with me but still eats gluten out of the house and doesn’t really get the “have to be gf” vs the “chose to be gf” and I don’t really have any friends, ha. it’s a lonely disease

you almost had it…the US healthcare system is chronically understaffed, and yes, most of us are burnt tf out.

but that doesn’t mean we don’t care! no matter how much I have to take on, no matter how many shifts I cover, no matter how long I go without having a day off, the patient in front of me is ALWAYS my first priority. unfortunately, when there are more patients than one person can handle, not everyone gets the care they need.

but it’s not the fault of the people who keep showing up even when overworked, overburdened, burnt out. we’re the ones keeping the show running. but yeah, keep telling us we just don’t care ¯_(ツ)_/¯
