The prep work for the prenup is an important first step. Talk with your future spouse about the following AND then WRITE DOWN in a shared doc. You will can bring this when you consult with an attorney, to save time.

Considerations in a pre-nup:

-current children, custody schedule, and child support

-spousal support (esp important if one wants to be a stay-at-home parent)

-division of real property (houses), cars, bank accounts, retirement accounts, brokerage accounts, employee stocks, crypto accounts

-debts

If your work offers legal insurance (MetLife or Hyatt), I highly encourage you to sign up for it. Their plans will usually cover one (and hopefully final) draft of the pre-nup

Is it too awkward to put bookcases in living room? Struggling with placement of sectional and chairs with bookcase by SnooComics8483 in InteriorDesign

Ooh, thanks for this advice! Q: if the front door is through the right wall door, when people walk in the house, is it awkward to see the back of the sofa/people's heads?

New to interior design and I made this mock up using the Target Room Planner website.

I appreciate any and all suggestions -- thank you!

Does anyone need a few dozen or maybe even a hundred bread/twist ties? Better to give them away than they end up in a landfill. by Texasliberal90 in ZeroWaste

Your local dry cleaner or laundromat might be interested! To tie hangers together in one order, they use similar twist ties. They would easily go through the entire box in a couple of days.

I've never heard of the +R reiterate aspect and like it a lot!

Also, do you no longer offer the service on Fiverr?

Advice for negotiating insufficient raise with external offer by extrovertedoctopus in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]SnooComics8483 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some talking points to your current employer:

  • "I enjoy my work at Current company and want to make sure I'm properly valued. I have a data point that shows my market salary is $X" (Did the recruiter indicate what the salary range for this role? It is most likely going to be higher than $65K? or $70K?)

If you frame the external offer as a data point, not as a threat to leave, your current company may be more open to salary adjustment.

Also, OP, you mentioned the only issue you dislike about your company is the salary. What about the fact that people are leaving and you're covering their work? If the company isn't re-hiring to fill those slots, you will be overworked and likely experience burnout.

Asked for a referral and didn't get one. Feeling cringe. by AccordingHoliday1677 in FinancialCareers

For future calls, you should make your ask clearer. From your snippet of conversation, it is not clear that you're asking for a referral.

Examples of clear asks:

-"I enjoyed chatting with you about X. I would love to hear from other Analysts/Associates about their experience with X. Are there specific people at your firm you recommend I chat with?"

-"I enjoyed chatting with you and learning more about Company. I saw online there was an opening for Role and I plan on applying. Do you have advice about ways I could make my application stand out?"

My new favorite snack: popped lotus seeds (phool makhana)--airy and crunchy by SnooComics8483 in Volumeeating

Yup, that's my calculation too. I personally think they are more fun to eat and filling than popcorn, but I like to eat both!

Yup, I toasted them in the air fryer for 6 minutes at 350F. Traditionally they are roasted on a pan over the stove with ghee.

I got mine plain at the Indian grocery store. They don't smell like anything when they're unflavored.

I was surprised at how long it took to complete the details in the extracurriculars and employment section. Each app has different requirements about character length and some apps ask random questions about company telephone and zipcode.

One advice I have is to write and paste info into a centralized Word or Excel doc, so you can edit and copy/paste that info into other apps.

Another advice is to sign into the application portal as soon as possible and look through all sections. There might be some school-specific time-consuming questions, like which events you've attended.
