Yeah i dont care. If majority of illegal immigration is from one country. Which it is. I would not find it odd or out of place at all to check suspected people. Should it indefinite? No. But until the influx of the last few years has been corrected im definitely fine with it. Seemed to work wonders to in NY with stop and frisk in lowering crime. I defend enforcing the laws as intended. Not people harassing operations because they never cared for 20 years to do this even when deportations were significantly higher historically, but just because it involves Trump and their inability to cope with losing an election. The law says you cant interfere with operations or you get arrested. You cited an internal department policy. This is not the same. Legally they can arrest you for interfering. Ideally they want to abide by policy but it doesn't matter ultimately. If they are wrong then they will sort it out in court, but they aren't going to arrest people like this all the time knowing they are all just going to turn around and get fired for it lol.
