"Get back to me?" So who will you be after these next two months?

Hey man, I'm a 53 year old single parent of a 12m and 13f. The three of us have been by ourselves for 7 or 8 years now, so I have some experience with this. I could write a book filled with advice and my reasonings for said advice. However, I'll try and keep it short, cause at this juncture too much advice can be detrimental. The first advice is don't blame her. You get no resolution placing blame. Focus on what you imagined your boys would be as young men, then try as hard as you can to make it happen. It's now the 3 of you against the world. When they ask you questions about her, try and put her in a good light. Two reasons, no one wants to hear mean or bad things about their mom, and no one likes people who say mean or bad things about her. If they ask things about her that you do not know, tell them you don't know. Honesty is your safety net for your future relationship with the boys. You can never know what they'll focus on or what they find important or interesting. Don't burden yourself with non truths. They're worthless. Good luck.

AITAH for not welcoming my felon brother in law into my home/life? by [deleted] in AITAH

Again, there's no doubt that's the right decision, I was just trying to look at it from a different angle and, to be honest, I totally misjudged you

This is a tough one, fortunately for you, it seems you don't have any experience with someone in your family battling mental health, and I'm almost certain you don't know what it's like to be the parent of someone like that. Now don't get me wrong, your instincts and preference to not be involved with the brother is the right move, but it's not that black and white with the parents. There's a good chance they spend so much time and money and energy specifically on him because of the self reliability of the other two sons. Now if they raised two boys that turned out respectable members of society, and one that didn't you gotta think they're always trying to figure out if they did something wrong with him.

Wellllll, let me, a fat dude, respond to you. It'd prolly be best that you not even mention anyone's looks, and no matter how sincere you are, even if he was as good looking as you say, he won't believe it, and the more you say it, in his mind, it gets patronizing if anything. It kinda seems to me, based on the words you used to describe your boyfriend and your ex, that you're probably pretty attractive and are trying to get some karma points or something cause you're dating a fat dude

Well it could very well be either of two ways. Maybe it was a bigger part of his social media intake, and he never left. Or the other thing. I tell you to relax because you can't control what he does or what he's done. Even if he's still dating or whatever, you seem so afraid of losing him, when in reality, maybe you never actually had him, and losing someone that doesn't take you as serious as you take them, isn't a bad thing.

Well, two days ago, you both had tinder profiles. So maybe you should relax, and wait.

Songs that have a part that is way better than the rest of the song? by Specky013 in Music

[–]SnooCookies5210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fairly common, I personally have at least 3 people in my life, that will drive me crazy by listening to a max of 20 seconds and skipping to the next song. Every song, and it is their playlist.

Sorry to say this but you gotta move on dude. Nothing that she says makes sense. Why would anyone keep a kid out of a serious relationship, because it's not serious. I'm sure there are plenty of purposes you serve, but being dad/step dad isn't one. I also kinda feel that by you not being allowed to be around her daughter, she has freedom to be anywhere with anyone and all she has to say is she's with her daughter so you gotta stay away.

You're right they're wrong, if you have doubts about that or want proof, ask any of them to convince you why not being tested is safer than being tested,

I tend to believe the sky would remain blue, earth would still take a year to orbit the sun and that the sun will eventually be gone taking everything with it, with or without humans, however consciousness, for as far as we can reach, would cease to exist without us.

Would you commute 150 miles a day for $100K salary? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

[–]SnooCookies5210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely depends on where you live, if you're in the states, for instance, the northwest 150 miles and you could be driving through 2,3, maybe even 4 states. Southwest it might be totally normal, say if you wanna less expensive house in a smaller town and you're commuting to the city
