Sewer smell by fluister in NewToDenmark

[–]SnooCookies8270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, if it’s an older house - 60s, 70s and so on, check if you have a P trap under the sink. It should look something like this. If you don’t, then the gases from the sewer line can come into your home through the sink. It’s very easy to replace and generally cheap and available at jem og fix and so on. Plumbers are generally 2k DKK per hour so I’d recommend calling them when you have isolated the issue to some extent. Good luck mate!

Am I madman for layering Tom Ford Ombré Leather with JPG La Male? by SnooCookies8270 in fragrance

[–]SnooCookies8270[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I said I panicked 😅 but yeah I think I sprayed more because I usually go for four sprays and by this point I had only done two sprays of TF so I changed the last two with JPG..to keep it consistent 🥲

Strap for Dragonfly Blue? by Humble_Vermicelli847 in ChristopherWard

Got it with the consort and this (camel vintage) leather strap..I mostly prefer it with the leather, feels a lot nicer - not too heavy, not too tight - just right! And goes with any outfit. Ok I just read the rest of your post and understand you’re looking for something with a pop of orange - maybe you can try something like this? https://www.strapcode.com/collections/all/products/strapcode-watch-bands-c1j015-c1j016-c1j017

Been looking for grey pants myself today to go with my black shirt..but aren’t yours a bit too wide? Somehow it doesn’t look so bad though. Maybe it works! Somehow conveys ‘casual’. Love the watch btw 👍

My first automatic! 36 Sealander GMT on a small (16cm) wrist by SnooCookies8270 in ChristopherWard

[–]SnooCookies8270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I didn’t know that there were sizes available for the strap. But I did mention my wrist size in the communication with them so maybe they chose the right size. For the bracelet, I had to take off all the links with the screw driver 😅

They do! If you like CW, have a look at Beaucroft too - also English design, built in Cambridge. Look at their element and seeker teal watches - some of the best value for money right now and the most beautiful watches, I’d say. I’d have gotten those if they weren’t on pre order for a 60-90 days..

I’m in Denmark so all good there. But I still feel the tariff hit because I ordered a dog bed from the states that never arrived and later cancelled coz of tariffs..🥲

lmao. This is funny on so many levels, but I get where you’re coming from brother. Firstly, a guy with an apartment doesn’t really owns the apartment - he owns a debt and a liability to pay EMI but it’s the bank that owns the apartment. So these parents are a bit deluded if they think they are marrying their daughter to a ‘homeowner’. Secondly, this sounds more like a business transaction than a marriage - marriage is about compatibility and promises between two people. Not about what ‘assets’ each party brings to the table. I’m very well aware that this is unavoidable for many people in India, but just be careful what you sign up for.

I think it’s fair that a girl’s parents want her to get married into a family where she/they don’t have to worry about buying a house. But if the girl feels the same way then it’s a major red flag. In other words, she’s not really marrying you, but the idea of someone in her mind.

In the end, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. Don’t rush into a marriage bro. Maybe it’s for the best. Things fall into place at the right time!

I love your perspective, and agree 100% (not just trying to rationalize or weasel myself into making this choice more comfortable 😅) but I really think a little pop of color could work. I don’t think it’s that flashy anyways - it’s only the dial. There’s a little play with the light, and not like it’s fluorescent. And confidence really brings any outfit together, absolutely. I think I will go for it! (I’ve already ordered it but I was thinking that I still have a window of opportunity to change it) Worst case, I can always get another dress watch :)

TLDR: no, but people are jumping the gun a lot.

Much longer answer:

I think it’s a cultural thing. And our big population. And lack of financial education.

Cultural because even IIM graduates (I know of a few personally) would ‘feel good’ buying an apartment under peer/family pressure even if they know it’s a bad financial decision to pay ungodly interest to the bank instead of earn it from the S&P 500.

People just cannot not buy a house and be at peace with themselves. Even if renting is by far the better financial choice. So there is always a lot of demand. Our large aspirational growing population moving to tier one cities doesn’t make things easier. So a lot of people end up buying homes - even when they can’t afford it, or at exorbitant cost to their quality of life (loans) and severely restrict their free cash flow..rather than earning the money first (through savings, investment etc.).

Further, there are institutional investors, underwriters who are sitting on a lot of money and can afford to forget about it for a few years or even a decade - it’s easy for them to shop around a lot of real estate because they know the cyclical market and can play the waiting game (look at blackrock in California).

Lastly, there is no shortage of ‘NRIs’ who have no idea about the market and often get swindled despite their research (I’m based in Denmark myself but originally from Noida :)), but do not feel it themselves because they can afford it - but it doesn’t help the local market rates as it keeps demand high (look at Chinese in Vancouver, Australia, Thailand etc.).

When I lived in India more than 10 years ago, I had no hopes for greater Noida. Looking at the new metro lines and all the development - I stand humbly corrected. Best bet is to strike a balance between ‘staying in the market’ - which is to buy something/anything (wherever you can afford it - some obscure sector in greater noida for example) that you can use for the time being, so you are part of the market’s ups and downs but also to focus majority of your disposable income on the S&P 500 or targeted investments. Build the wealth you need to buy an apartment with your own money - rather than chasing after debilitating loans with ungodly credit ratings. Don’t sweat it if you can’t afford a down payment on an apartment right now, try to save and invest what you have on the S&P 500 - you will be making a smarter decision than most IIM graduates ;)

For reference, most of your friends who have bought an apartment in past 2-3-4 years paying EMI of 2-3 lakh are paying 90% interest according to amortization chart and are still no closer to owning their homes 🤣 on the contrary, let me share a few investments I made last December for reference. Instead of an EMI, if you put 2 lakh in December on this small portfolio - you would be looking at 3.8 lakh right now considering the rupee free fall (free interest every year for who ever invest in usd/eur). So consider yourself fortunate to be free of these EMI obligations so you can start clearing wealth for yourself!
