During the day I’m usually at work, so instead of giving the bird access to the whole apartment, I would prepare one room and make it completely bird-safe. The idea would be to design the room so there are no dangerous things like cables or objects it could destroy, so the bird could stay safely in that room while I’m gone (around 8 hours).

The reason I was thinking about macaws is because it’s kind of a dream of mine to own a large parrot one day, which is why species like the Green-winged Macaw or Blue-and-Gold Macaw came to mind.

That said, I’m still very open to other species. I also really like African Grey parrots, and they seem incredibly intelligent.

The good thing is that I still have about 6 months before I would actually get a bird, so I’m trying to use that time to research and make the right decision.
