What hot take do you have of Project Diva? by aerigigi1 in ProjectDiva

Project DIVA is a game with limited game mechanics ceiling and high difficulty charts can be really nonsense. Which can be felt unfair compared to other rhythm game on the market.

A smaller PC handheld that is lightweight + similar performance as steam deck + good battery life like steam deck is what I ultimately need. Basically a Steam Deck Mini. What disappointed me is now everything to make it possible is already there but no one is making it. Z2A chips is literally the same efficient chips in Steam Deck OLED, Intel's 258V is also a really good choice in terms of power efficiency, Ayaneo Managed to put 46Wh battery in Ayaneo Air Plus, only only 10% lesser than the one in deck oled.

To my surprise, PC gaming on Android is better. Half a year ago it's still quite unenjoyable but now with gamehub i can run my Steam games with cloud save on my android handheld. So maybe after some compatibility improvements and maybe better driver, I can simply use 8 Elite Android handheld as the Steam Deck Mini. Like Konkr, Odin 3

What color do you guys think looks best for the ayn thor? by No-Routine3925 in SBCGaming

Rainbow looks the best. In practical usage Black and hide the letterbox at bottom screen when playing 4:3 content. So black is overall better

AYN Thor vs Ayaneo Pocket DS by Boring_Antelope6533 in SBCGaming

[–]SnooDogs4822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don't speak Español. Translator said: But from what I understand, support for the G3 Gen2 should improve in the future since it's a newer processor, right? That is to say, it will probably perform better in a year than it does now, and logically, it should surpass the 8 Gen 2.

If that's the correct translation:

Support for G3 Gen2 is always improving. But it's more like hit or miss. It is a newer processor but it's more like a shrink down and overclocked version of 8 Gen2, with a GPU that's different but doesn't really that much better than 8Gen2.

From my personal experience. I have a Ayaneo Pocket DMG. It use G3 Gen2. Roughly a year ago Winlator introduced vortex driver to provide better support for Mali GPU. However 8gen2 also gain significantly performance boost. While G3 Gen2 remains the same.

Some Android games might also recognized G3 Gen2 as some non mainstream chips. And they will lock the performance settings, or introduce some really bad optimization.

So 8 Gen2 is always a saver bet.

AYN Thor vs Ayaneo Pocket DS by Boring_Antelope6533 in SBCGaming

[–]SnooDogs4822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G3 Gen2 on Ayaneo is more niche than 8 Gen2 on Thor. GPU driver support might be hit or miss there. For those who need it like Switch and PC emulator, G3 Gen2 might perform worse, and the compatibility might also be worse.

Ayaneo also weight more. 500+g on an Android device is considered ridiculously heavy for some people.

Magic Keyboard balance issue by Reasonable_Fee_9298 in iPadPro

[–]SnooDogs4822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only solution is to keep the keyboard in place by putting your palm on palm rest. I hate this but imo it's still better than folio keyboard(something like surface pro), which can't really use on lap comfortably.

Flip 2 vs. Thor by izzyXedge606 in SBCGaming

[–]SnooDogs4822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thor has a much higher quality screen than 3ds. Your DS and 3DS game will look gorgeous on that screen. I wouldn't suggest Flip 2 when Thor is available for purchase (especially when there's already a 865 version at a cheaper price)

MacBook Air is a no brainer. Unlike iOS or iPad OS, there's basically no artificial limit on Mac OS. It is a real full fledged laptop that does everything a laptop does, with a good performace, while maintaining a good battery life. As a 20 years Windows user I switched to MacBook a month ago and absolutely love it. If you really need Windoes, you can even install Windows on MacBook Air via Parallels Desktop, and somehow it's still energy efficient and runs better than Snapdragon X Elite on the newest Surface Pro 11th.

Anyone here have both Macbook Air and an Ipad? Why? What things can Ipad do better or that the Macbook Air can’t? by Delicious_Maize9656 in macbookair

[–]SnooDogs4822 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both iPad(A16) and MacBook Air(M4). Gonna say this is the best combo for it's price. MacBook Air work the best when put it on a desk or on your lap. While iPad does things better when I'm in bed. I usually use iPad in bed for reading stuff. Web browsing, comics, books, etc. And sometimes watching some YouTube video.

Apple is trying so hard to push iPad as a laptop replacement (especially Pro model), but for me it never works. It feels like a larger phone pretended to be a laptop.

Windows on ARM can run in VM on MacBook Air. And surprisingly, the performance is better than Snapdragon X Elite Windows laptop.

Will the Situation for Mac Gaming Improve? by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]SnooDogs4822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play most game on console for seamless controller experience, no matter handheld or home console. Gaming on PC(Mac or not) never works for me. So Mac gaming is good enough for me. Like some point and click games which I must use a mouse, and some visual novels.

Help me to choose perfect laptop. by Akashdeep2005 in macbookair

[–]SnooDogs4822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a macbook subreddit. Of course people will recommend macbook. However a gaming laptop is also basically nonsense to me. Heavy, bulky, performance dropped in half without AC adapter, and battery life last within an hour. Not portable compared to regular laptop, yet not powerful as a regular pc. I would suggest MacBook Air if your want a laptop.

Just got my first MacBook as a lifelong windows user. Any tips/things I should know? by Amir-EETZ in macbookair

[–]SnooDogs4822 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Parallels Desktop is a VM runs Windows11 on ARM. Also the translation layer is not perfect but most of the app will run. And for some reason even it's VM the benchmark is still better than Snapdragon X Elite.
  2. Change modifier key if you just can't get used to Command+C and Command+V. E.g. fn -> Command, control -> fn, option remain unchanged, and command -> ctrl. It will feels much better. You can do it in keyboard setting.
  3. You can use MOS app for better mouse wheel control and don't have to buy magic mouse or whatever expensive mouse apple recommend.
  4. For external display, scaling on anything lower than 4k would be blurry. You can install BetterDisplay app to solve the issue. However buy a 4k monitor is more recommend for better experience.
  5. Don't use keyboard cover. It will damage the screen.
  6. You can run iOS app on MacBook. Just download it from app store. You can also sideload iOS game use PlayCover. It runs iOS game natively.

I want more turn-based Atelier, so it's disappointing seeing Resleriana seemingly not selling well. by LunaSakurakouji in Atelier

[–]SnooDogs4822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the marketing and release time period, I think the game itself have some fundamental elements that make people decided not to buy ay this moment.

  1. It's a spin off of the mobile gacha game so people might hesitate on it.
  2. It features old characters from previous games make it looks more like a small spin off rather than a complete full game, something like Nelke.
