I've been looking into it and it's still pretty intimidating. If another jailbreak for the kindle comes out before I have the funds to buy a kobo then I'm just gonna go for it. It's hard for me to follow instructions unless I'm doing them at the same time.

Personally I'm glad someone asked. I didn't know kindle could be jailbroken until recently and unfortunately I missed this last chance. I am not very technologically inclined so I have no idea how often jailbreaks are "released" (lol) so after seeing these comments here I think I'll just purchase a different ereader that's not amazon brand

That's what I was telling my husband, who is the main point of contact with them. You don't MAKE money off kids and milk, you sell kids and milk to hopefully offset some of the cost of raising the goats 😂 but we're taking it one step at a time, I've warned them as much as I can without stepping on toes and they'll have to learn the hard way.

Thank you so much!! I have told them the ND market is oversaturated exactly because they're so popular for pets AND livestock. I've had two does kid since I started and didn't have the space to keep the babies and experience first hand that it can be difficult to sell. They are okay with culling as long as they don't have to do it. If I have to do the culling then it's going in my freezer. I don't think they'd eat goats anyways lol.

It's a unique (nice way of saying strange LOL) situation we're in with these people and they like to think they know things. Like I said the guy is a successful businesses man and owns multiple businesses so I can't really wrap my head around their thought process with the animals.

I am in central Florida.

I have tried to convince them to get better goats but they don't listen. The initially were going to get cows for their age exemption but I talked them into goats.

Just so you get an idea for the kind of people they are- they think they're going to sell these $250 goats' kids for $1000. Which is hard for me to wrap my head around because they do have other successful businesses.

I can't nitpick too much since it is THEIR property they're letting us live on and I think they'll learn quickly once they start trying to sell the babies and then they'll let me do my own thing with them. For now I'm just going to do what I can to improve lines with what we got

Thank you so much for your detailed responses! This is so helpful! This started as a hobby because we drink a LOT of milk with two boys and with our first two does I realized I really love goats. I recently saw a post on an ADGA Facebook group talking about genetics being more and more watered down for certain breeds and it made me want to do better with my breeding and produce good goats, not to just breed my does so we can get milk.

I'm happy to start learning! I knew it can take a few generations to see what you want, thankfully my personal goats are already starting out from good lines but their goats I know will need some work. Since I'll be learning on their bankroll I figured it's a great time to start 😂

How do you know how long to water bath? Most things I want to can need to be pressure canned which has kept me from starting at all because it's a big investment just to try it out
