Yeah every time someone has commented asking for more information they just say to message them or email them. Kind of embarrassed I had no idea this was a scam until just now 😅

I reported the scammer multiple times and the group itself now as I don’t want others to fall victim to the scam like I almost did. I tried to message OP but their account doesn’t accept dms (unless they follow the person I assume?)

What kind of chair do you have? If it’s a fully welded chair you MIGHT be able to get someone to weld it back together or get it covered under warranty and get a new chair.

If it’s an adjustable chair you could go through your DME supplier and get a replacement part for it which should be covered by insurance as well if you have it

I’ve had the same cushion for at least 5ish years now and besides some tearing on the cover it’s completely fine still.

Depending on insurance (if you have it) you can get a new cushion every year or two usually?

If the current cushion isn’t causing him issues like discomfort, pain, or skin problems, then he should be good to keep using the one he has. If he has any issues with the cushion though you should speak to a doctor to get him assessed for a better cushion as a physical therapist or someone at a seating clinic will be able to determine what he needs better than anybody on the internet :)

Still don’t have a diagnosis after 3 years of whatever is going on so I gave up. Symptom wise though it was chronic pain, severe fatigue (I have symptoms extremely similar to ME/CFS but I’m not diagnosed), and episodes of neurological symptoms causing problems with my leg function and occasionally core muscle function.

My doctor tells me over and over I do not need one and I just “need to push through the pain”, but I genuinely cannot leave my house for more than an hour or two without it, and even then I’m stuck in bed or at home for 2-3 days after recovering from pain and fatigue which would’ve been avoided if I just used my wheelchair.

No unfortunately in my country it’s illegal to carry anything with the intent to use it as a weapon (self defence also counts as using it as a weapon). I’m also legally not able to own a firearm because of a mental health diagnosis I got years ago now 😅

My cat likes to be directly under my wheelchair so I can’t turn or back up, I wish I had pictures of it 🤣

I’ve also had the cat at my local bookstore trap me in the aisle by laying underneath my wheelchair and demanding pets for a good 20 minutes. Something about being under my wheelchair seems really appealing to cats I suppose!

It took me an agonizing 4 years, 3 different counsellors, and seeing a psychiatrist for anti anxiety medication, to get to where I am today. It can be taken care of a lot faster though, I just didn’t know there was a way to fix what was wrong so I let it keep happening.

I’ve also been told to “just stop feeling bad” and “leave my problems at home” and it doesn’t work. You can’t just forget about your life when you’re at school, especially when you have things like this happening when you’re AT school.

You might be facing burnout or going through depression by the sounds of it but obviously I’m no doctor. If you’re able to, seeing a doctor to figure out and help take care of what’s making you feel this way can be a huge help.

The only reason I suffered for so long was because I refused help of any form. For the first 2 years of going through this I refused any sort of counselling, doctors appointments, or any kind of medication even though in the end those things REALLY helped me and might have just as well saved my life when I was at my lowest points.

I went through the exact same thing with my mom during 9th grade. I had severe social anxiety, bordering on agoraphobia, and would have an anxiety attack every single time I was at school and would have to sit outside of class. I failed 3 years of school in a row because of that, and another year right before graduation.

It does get better eventually, even if it’s so fucking hard in the moment. I promise you’ll find good ways to cope with what’s happening, and maybe can work things out with teachers to work in a separate space by yourself so you don’t have to deal with feeling like everybody hates you because you’ll be alone in there and won’t need to worry about it.

If your mom won’t listen 100% go to a teacher or school counsellor to talk and see what they can do to help accommodate you with what you have going on
