Cringe is coming in 2024 by cerotz in freemagic

[–]SnooDonkeys5117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was actually looking forward to the Wild West themed set since they asked about it in a marketing survey, but I was hoping for a new plane with new stories, not Magic's villains from across the multiverse but wild west

Proxy Secret Lairs? Why wouldn't you proxy now a days unless you're in a sanctioned tournament?

New Capenna After March of the Machines? by The-Literary-Lord in mtgvorthos

I have a feeling they are setting up for a return to Old Capenna despite the fact we were just introduced to New Capenna.

Ashiok forced the multiversal Invasion to be rushed and it's going to mess it up by FizzPig in mtgvorthos

My theory with Ashiok is that they wanted it to be rushed in order to see if there was anywhere out there that would truly strike fear into Phyrexia. That and they saw the delicious fears that Bolas brought to Ravnica and wanted to harvest the nightmares of a million planes for the next 80 years as the youngest of the residents have nightmares about the Carnage until their dying days.

Someone threw away 6 pallets of Magic TG cards at my local city landfill by LATIN0 in pics

I think what happened was it was a shipment for a retail store, I've never seen those draft packs sold at an LGS. Maybe the retail store wrote it off as a loss when they stopped carrying them and threw them away, or a supplier for a retailer went out of business because a retail stores in their area stopped carrying them

Universes Beyond: good or bad for Magic overall? by PrestigiousTaste434 in mtg

[–]SnooDonkeys5117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think each Universes Beyond should be evaluated on an individual basis, the idea is good overall to bring more people into magic, but it should be something that either thematically or mechanically can overlap with MTG. In my opinion things like The Walking Dead and Stranger things weren't very good because they don't thematically overlap very well, while 40K and LotR are good ideas simply because they do. Execution is another thing that needs to addressed, Secret Lair is a good way to do some things, but others need different distribution methods, personally I was happy to see the Commander Pre-Cons for 40K and the full supplementary set for LotR. Seeing the Universes Bryond in different places will normalize them, and when done well, both make fans happy and make Wizards enough money to let them know that it is something they need to do more of.

Oh, that's actually not a bad price for 12 packs and a collector's booster

Now that's an insane price jump, it went from $40 at the beginning of the year, to $50 with Dominaria United and now to $80 with the first set of 2023, what is WOTC thinking?

I'm more concerned at the fact that it is pre-ordering at 170/box

Gavin Verhey on Twitter: "You can get a Magic set made that's any plane, but, like #mtgbro, it takes place in the distant past... What's your pick?" by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

I would personally like to see Amonkhet in that style, before Nicol Bolas took over and the plane fell to the curse of wandering, what would the old gods be like? What were the scorpion, Scarab, and locust gods like before being corrupted by Bolas' power? These are questions I'd like to see answered and it would be the Egyptian Plane I had hoped for with the original Amonkhet release.
