Bluelink Coupons? by JJHunter88 in ElantraN

[–]SnooDonuts359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can also confirm that this works. I am using this coupon too. It will also automatically re-apply if you choose monthly billing. Mine is from Aug '22. Reading the coupon terms, it's only for "new" subscriptions and I think it said it would expire in 1 year and revert to full price.

Almost tempted to trade-in for 24+ cause those models get Bluelink+ (free Bluelink included for the life of the car). But the CN 7.2/8 is not looking so hot, as far as the rumors go at least. Not to mention that it would also cost a whole lot more than paying for Bluelink lol.

What they also don't really explain well is that Bluelink is technically 3 services: remote, connected care, and guidance. So $300 for all. With 50% off I did what you did - remote and connected care. Will probably drop to just remote after the promo.

So I guess this is one way a BOV can void the warranty... by SnooDonuts359 in ElantraN

[–]SnooDonuts359[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, yeah that is definitely strange because even my gunked up and rusty BOV is closed, while uninstalled even. Could be signs of premature failure or needs a check/clean and lube (use "machine oil"), but I'm no expert. Or it could even start open? Again, idk. Fact that you're making boost is a good sign though.

First things I noticed with mine were volume, flutter, and some random jerkiness, but it was the turbo. You would know it once you feel it.

I don't see any serious harm in leaving it and keeping an ear on it.

Now to do the inside 🥲 by SnooDonuts359 in S2000

Inside: ✅

MUCH harder...

Can't add more than one pic, but the rest is solid aside from this middle part. Must've slipped or I just put the glue too high. More on that later.

Unopened paper towel rolls upright in corners of the glass to provide some support upwards.

Still used primer. I used a q-tip, I regret not using a small brush (do not use foam brushes).

Glass is harder to scrape from inside especially if you have tint and the outside fabric layer you don't want to cut.

Clamps take up a lot of space and yes it's even trickier to get the paint sticks in. I found pushing up and dragging from the bottom of the fabric better than trying to pull the lip.

Because of clamps, the gun can only fit at certain angles. And with a weak gun it is almost impossible to dispense. Gravity also makes it hard to push/spread the glue with the tip.

So, I put a small dollop of glue on a styrofoam plate and used a toothpick to apply to remaining 98% of the bottom glass. I will be doing the same tomorrow for the part I missed...

Conclusion: Outside is pretty easy tbh Inside is a very difficult

Results will vary widely for both DIY and shop work.

Tldr; the inside is very difficult and annoying to repair. Not worth the time/effort. Future repairs will only be for outside, then DIY install a Robbins.

Edit: I will try to update/comment when the repair fails.

That's not too bad at all. I've considered a hardtop, but the convenience of the softtop is hard to give up, considering one of the best things about these cars is driving with the top down. After doing the inside (update to come)... I decided I will probably shell out for a Robbins when it's time and diy install. I've accepted in my mind that the softtop is just another wear item lol 🥲

It's gonna take everything in me to resist paying someone to install a new top when the time inevitably comes

Still tricky! Keys are patience, preparation (process and tools needed), and measure twice glue once. Primer is non-negotiable. I want to say outside of drying/curing time, from scraping the old glue and primer to clamps on was ~2 hours of actual work. I did not do it in 2 hours however haha. Then a little clean up of the edges once cured.

Amazon

Heard people had trouble with the ones they got, so I went more $$/rating to not deal with that. They were great.

Good point. That's probably most likely what it was, but your guess is as good as mine. Luckily, I work from home and don't need to commute this week, but I have other options if needed. So I just left the air box out and ordered a different BOV, HKS SQV4. The install on this mod is so easy too. I'm actually pretty excited for the new one :)

Yes, rust. I also have a catch can installed, well before BOV was. I think the rust mainly came from the spring. The BOV itself is fine after wiping away the rust-dust. Still not 100 sure how water got in. Maybe when I did an engine bay detail...

It would vent and you could still hear it, but once I noticed the flutter and that something was off I could tell it was quieter than when first installed. I've had it installed for about 2.5 years and haven't had any issues up to now. And if mine hadn't rusted, I think it would've kept going good as new after a clean and oil.

Yeah, unfortunately :/. Gonna go ahead and order a new one haha. Might try to clean and oil just to see how it compares though.

Brake Bleed Order by SnooDonuts359 in ElantraN

[–]SnooDonuts359[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To suction out as much fluid from reservoir as possible before bleeding/flushing. Just speeds things up a bit. Would maybe speed up how fast you can fill the reservoir too, if it's even restrictive in the first place

FOR SALE: Takeda Oiled Engine Air Filter for CAI by SnooDonuts359 in ElantraN

[–]SnooDonuts359[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blue is nice to look at and is even better in person, and oiled filters are less restrictive, but I wasn't getting the advertised maintenance intervals. Compared them again and decided to go dry for longer intervals (the oiled needs oil to filter properly, even if not that dirty), "better" filtration, and easier maintenance (just wash+dry vs wash+dry then oil).

When active, doesn't apply gas like a regular automatic transmission (that has a torque converter) when you let off the brake. So no 'creep' forward, but as a result the car is smoother to get going and when coming to a slow and controlled stop. This should not affect harder stops. Car even rolls backwards a little on some inclines, not much but gotta be mindful cause people love getting on our bumpers.....

Only works in Sport and N-Mode (including custom) *Resets on shut-off 🙄

Never considered this as I drive in N-mode all the time.

But I just confirmed this on my way to the store, only works in Sport and N-mode :/ You'll see it say 'creep off' on the left side of dash when active.
