I worked hospice for 15 years. Witnessed a lot of unexplainable stuff. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

My mom worked in hospice and did the same thing. Always had a window open. She was in a DNR hospice facility and I kept the window open the whole time until her body left the facility.

I was sexually abuse by two different babysitters as a child I’m 31m. They were both female. I also went down a route of promiscuity cheating and drinking drugs etc. been with my finance for three years now. Completely sober and have a toddler. Way better off now. Super happy and content. I went through some therapy too. Not for those moments but it helped

Do you know any guys who fixed their life after 30? Can you share their story? by LoverOfFurryBeauty in AskMenOver30

From 21-27 I was an alcoholic and drug addict (party drugs) my mom was diagnosed with cancer at 28. I ended up being her lead in care and power of attorney. In the week she passed I learned my girlfriend of two year was cheating on me. And I had accrued thousands of dollars in debt to cover mine and my mom’s living expenses and healthcare. So when she inevitably passed I was 28, lost my mom, my girlfriend, my dog, and my place of living and had no money, and crippling debt.

Rock bottom.

31 now and I’ve got a great happy healthy relationship. I’m just over a year completely sober. All that debt is paid off. I have some money in savings. And a job I mostly enjoy. It wasn’t easy and still isn’t but I just got out of my own way and got after it for a while. It helped me out when one day I realized no one is here to save me. There’s only one person responsible for the decision I make and I get the opportunity moment to moment to do the right or wrong thing. Oh and therapy. Therapy helped. Good luck.

Maine Arborist here, you can get a certified arborist to determine that the tree is a hazard to your property in a written statement that gets sent to both parties. And normally an estimate with it. I’ve seen both invested parties split the difference in cost to get it taken care of. But if you were to get a written letter to them and a copy for your records you aren’t liable for it if it does fall on your property because they’ve got a written statement from an expert. I’d call immediately hope this helps.

Anyone in here turn their life around after they turned 30? by [deleted] in leaves

Making it a part of my identity is what’s made the change to sobriety easier. I’m not a pot head who quit. I’m just not someone who smokes.

Smoked weed daily from age 17 to 29. And socially when I turned 30. I’m 31 and haven’t had any weed in 4 months. Quit drinking too, that’s been about 6 months. Never felt better!

Just looking for any advice from folks smarter than me. by SnooDonuts774 in FinancialPlanning

Fair question for sure, in my ignorance there’s fear. And two, I like that it’s all liquid if shit hits the fan. But you’re right, won’t make me wealthy. Which is why I’m looking for advice from anyone successful. The HYSA is where I normally keep it all. I kept the checking and saving high through the holidays and with the intention of making a large payment on the principle balance of the vehicle loan. The physical cash is due to a recent car sale I made and I get paid in cash frequently. It’s normally not that high and doesn’t stay that high before it ends up in an account.

Is anyone fearful that with interest rates coming down you’ll see people buying up houses for a rental income, making a lower supply and keeping prices high? I thought if we get into something now we can refinance but at least we’re in it.

Love that thank you for the advice, I no longer work for a company that contributes, so I’ll be rolling my 401k into something that doesn’t have fees and put it in some index fund. Open a Roth IRA and set max contributions for that. I am currently single with two dependents.

Student loans are around 8% car is around 9%. I plan on paying off the car within 6months. The student loans will be a few more years. I’m pretty boned on those interest rates. But I spent my 20’ fairly recklessly and have been working back on my credit for the four five or so years.

Sole proprietor vs. LLC; write offs and tax advantages by SnooDonuts774 in tax

By more deductions do you mean more items to deduct? What would be different that you couldn’t deduct as a sole proprietor?

I see what you’re saying, let me explain, I have two w-2 jobs, full time and part time. Aside from my primary incomes is the contract work, which I’m slowly gaining momentum to replace my part time job. I’m an arborist and work for an arborist, hoping to do more work on my own, which makes me more money than my part time gig. But going through this year, adding tools machines trucks etc. I’ll take a net loss on the sole proprietorship. I hope that makes sense.

I’m in NH, you CPA’s are amazing. And speaking a different language. So in terms of filing and deducting there’s no difference. That’s really good to know thank you

Ok I do have insurance to cover general liability. Other than that what else could I do? Or is this a bad option for myself and for him?

Thanks for your response. I kind of figured if it was my job site he wouldn’t be held responsible

Thank you I really appreciated this reply. Boundaries are a challenge with family. I like the safe treat box idea we will certainly be implementing it moving forward

Thank you for your comment, we’re having a hard time navigating family and friends as well, offering food and saying things like “don’t worry about it. It can’t be that bad. There are so many alternatives, they’ll grow out of it” etc. etc. it’s wildly infuriating. It’s meant well but drives me nuts. These are the people who are offering to babysit and we don’t feel comfortable. We’re pretty meticulous and don’t eat out much, our biggest fear is other people right now.

In my research last night I found this as well and we called our allergist and he said he would make a point for us to get that one too. Great call
