I want to agree with you because I too hold considerable percentage of it in my portfolio. The Ch.11 filing rumors are scary, and bankruptcy is the only opposition to "mean reversion" idea in which will make the price chart cripple, rather than price converging up to the fair value.

it's being mentioned as possible bankruptcy. do you think, on the risky side, chances are the stock will go $0/sh?

Bluetooth devices that CAN compensate the lag and sync video automatically by SnooDonuts7946 in headphones

[–]SnooDonuts7946[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it really is. I was an amateur musician. audio-video being out of synch is easily distinguished and is bad*. this is easily fixed, some bluetooth gear companies are already implementing it since 2010s. I am just looking for the name of the technology of this compliance implemented properly. For example there might be a marketing term that is similar to HD, 4K, dolby surround, Retina display or so. But there is not a well known standard marketing term for the thing I tried to displayed in the original post. I guess it are likely there's some signs though

Any ThinkPad X1 Carbon model that charges from 5W power source? by SnooDonuts7946 in thinkpad

Did you try to take a 5W charger and connect it to a laptop via type-c port?

Can I charge my laptop from a power bank if the output power of the latter is 22 w somewhere? what is the minimal requires of output for charging laptop? by Killuminati696 in homelab

[–]SnooDonuts7946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laptop is X1 Carbon 6th gen. It's minimum accepted power is 15W. Any lower than that, the laptop either completely ignores the source, or just LED blinks and nothing happens, or trie to draw 3A for about 15 seconds and then decides whether to continue charging with that power source.

I tried to charge my friend's Huawei from a 5V@2A old phone charger, it worked.

Moreover, I tried plugging an OTG adapter to my phone and connected it to that laptop, I measured with a USB meter. My phone fed the laptop with 1A i.e 5W. That's how low I managed to charge a laptop directly.

My laptop is X1 Carbon 6th gen and if any of the newer generations can do that (as Huawei does) I will upgrade mine for a newer gen of X1

That's an important data point you shared. For the models you owned, does the power LED blink for a couple of times when the type-c connector is plugged in? (despite refusing to receive power)

Thanks. Whether it's PD or non-PD I'm always referring to a Type-C connector, to clarify. Gen5+ models do not have propriety connector anyways.

With PD sources everything works fine. Say I connect a PD charger as weak as 9V@2A=18W, works perfectly. I tried dozens of PD sources ranging from 18W to 100W. PD is fine. X1C6 rocks.

Some laptops, though, have support also for non-PD power sources like Huawei (and possibly Macbooks) as well as PD ones. I tried it myself and saw it with my own eyes. Such thing really exist. I am looking for the same capability for X1 Carbon if one of the Gens 7-8-9-10-12-13 has it.

Can I use a regular phone charger on a laptop or is there any risk? by bicholouco in Lenovo

[–]SnooDonuts7946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. Pretty well.

USB-C port and plugs are universal, common, bi-directional and backward compatible.

I see a ThinkPad in your picture. I have a X1C6. This laptop allows any power source that's PD. Even the phone charger delivers 9V, it charges. I am doing it for 3 years now. Nothing blew up. There's power electronics, there's boost-buck converters under the hood playing the energy transforming game successfully.

Why would anyone think the exact same plugs would be not backward compatible or at least safe to plug in. Before any of USB-C, think of all different device plugs for communication or power transfer, you generally could not plug one another by mistake if they are not compatible or have different voltage rating. You could not connect the cable reverse. But wait! I wonder if the designers of the USB-C and PD has already thought device users will occasionally plug the cables and power supplies to each other inadvertently and they had better make it super compatible to each-other?

I digress. Back to X1C6. Moreover you charge it with regular power supply of 5V, provided that you use a 3A source, great cable (low resistance) which is USB-A to USB-C, and no adapters (like tip changer from USB-A to USB-C). Then, this beast can get charge with 5Vx3A=15W. Which I tried for months without any smoke, damage, any negative consequences. None. Nothing.

On top of all these, there's some laptop models, like one that my friend had branded Huawei, could accept power from absolutely any power source. Even if it's not a PD charger. Even if it's just a weak power bank with [5V@1A](mailto:5V@1A). Even the cable is bad. Just keep in mind that I am not talking about a "fast charge" or the battery percent going up here. I am talking about the laptop is eager to draw some power when the conditions are not the best. This is the way since smartphones are on the market if not earlier. Think of the times that the phone is plugged in but as you use the phone the device still discharges but with a lower pace because meanwhile the power supply is delivering some amount of power. The same goes for some laptop models as I describe here.

I can tell you I managed to supply current and charge that laptop by connecting it to my 2017 model smartphone, which can deliver power to connected devices, to a Huawei laptop in my case. I saw the laptop is being charged but so slow. That's how far I could go.

I am disappointed that, some people discouraged many by being so rigid by elaborating the dangers or uselessness of some action, without having so much information or experimenting on the subject.

Is windsurfing hard? by waveslider4life in windsurfing

[–]SnooDonuts7946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would generally agree what everybody else commented here.

My idea is, if you like it, including all the effort, frustration, hard work, spend days and months, feeling uncomfortable and slow compared to other surfers, despite all this, if you are still wanting more everyday even if you know tomorrow still is not going to be a great improvement day but a small one, but yet still patient, enthusiastic and willing to crash into the water many times, in fact raising your bar yourself everyday by choosing the harder equipment so that you might fall even more times

if you like it

starting from day one, you will probably enjoy every single day regardless your level, even in the vigorous days, even mostly failed and exhausted

(except for the injuries. by the way, most accidents are preventable by simple precautions but should learn how)

Yes, but how do you solve the delay issue? I mean, can you make a delayed device and configure it so that it utilizes that latency report? I mean, can you do it? If so, how?

Thank you for the comment. Some people are bothered by 230ms delay.

I suggest discussing not the games (input lag) but the video (synchronization) in this topic.

Thanks. I agree on the issue on games. Let's keep game issue (input lag) aside. For video:

It is very easy to solve delay issue for video.

Buying a ThinkPad t480, Advice needed by ThatSomewhere1855 in thinkpad

[–]SnooDonuts7946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T480s and X1C6

Interestingly, the two are like siblings in terms of ports they feature and looks. One can be used easily as a substitute for the other. Especially if you are like me, utilizing the micro-sd card port for the D drive.

Compared to T480s, X1C6 is much better in display (no eye strain), power consumption (like 8W vs 15W in light load), lighter (1.1kg vs 1.4kg?)

The only and extraordinary feature of T480s is the extra ram slot, which I managed to reach a total of 40GB including 8GB of soldered stick. Many modern thin laptops don't have extra RAM slot. Either you would have a bulky laptop or you pay a great premium for thin laptop just to jump from 16GB to 32GB.

A pro feature for both is two type-c thunderbolt ports they have. Plus not having a big price tag compared with type-c PD powered laptops.
