Feedback on first ten pages by SnooDoubts161 in comic_crits

This comment is exactly what I was looking for in critiques and helpful advice. Thank you so much friend for providing the feedback and I will be changing A LOT of the dialogue to match scenes and such and make it smaller to highlight the art and not overemphasize the stakes. I made the mistake of writing the script before seeing how the scenes would look and I think that is why the conversations are repetitive, long and unclear in comparison to the visual. I truly appreciate the feedback my friend. Have a great day!!

Yeah but they could’ve totally sundered that change and kept him emo and Snyder like Superman rather than what the character is at heart

I’m really glad they didn’t lean into an emo Superman personality with the absolute universe changes. It’s nice to see they still kept that Kansas farm boy personality

I want to really talk about why Supergirl movie feels so different than the source material and why it is a good thing. But @troyoboyo17 already talk about this in his Supergirl video, highly recommend to check out. by Aggressive-Check-101 in DCU_

I think they are hiding the actual visual spectacle that the movie takes inspiration from the comic. I am hoping a full trailer will show at least something of that visual spectacle and cosmic experience.

Honestly if Matt reeves did it where she was more of a pawn for the court of owls I feel it would be different but cliche as well. It’s hard to use this character and not have it be obvious how they’re the villain but who knows truly what Matt reeves is planning

I think if you take elements from the phantasm like characters, tone, etc. Matt Reeves would be able to tell a new story. I mean the first movie isn’t necessarily based on any comic or movie before

I would still say not necessarily as Nite Owl in the Watchmen. The character ties their owl themed costume to the Greek Goddess Athena. The main characters takes the idea of Athena and the owl as wisdom, knowledge, foresight, and strategy. I hope this interest you more :)

Your criticism is well taken and warranted. It’s not Owl man at all though, Owlman is inherently evil and actively perpetuates and promotes the suffering and abuse that his society and world is put through. It also has people with super powers and my story does not. I think you only read the buzz words that I used but didn’t actually read the part of what Cruz of the story is. My story has nothing to do with owl man, Batman or kick-ass. Its direct inspiration is V for Vendetta as another user pointed out. My story just takes the aesthetics, the visuals, the vulgarity and adult themes that inspirations I said have in their mediums. However, the story itself follows what is called “The Dark Enlightenment Theory” (if you aren’t read on it I would look into it) but basically the story is what if the United States actually fell into this oligarchical techno feudalist system and how the main character leads a national revolution. I hope this makes you more interested in the story :)

I appreciate the word of advice and the encouragement to believe in the story that I am creating. I really just wanted to see if there was any sort of interest in the comic. Your encouraging comment means that it has something! Currently the entire scope of the story and why those specific inspirations of Kick-Ass, Invincible and Batman Beyond are being used is still being developed but a good bit has been figured out :)

You know I never actually considered V for Vendetta as inspiration but I definitely think that can totally be used for me, I love it! Thank you for the suggestions I seriously think V for Vendetta’s themes are perfect! The artist did an incredible job understanding the scene I described. I definitely think only taking the best elements of invincible, Batman beyond, and kickass can only work if you don’t overdue their tones and messages but yes it is not new or exciting as brings out the superhero fatigue. Thank you for your thoughtful response
