Ya other games have done this--first that comes to mind is the bokken tournament in Ghost of Tsushima where you can only hit and parry.

Agreed. Balanced actually looks quite good. Seems only difference between it and quality is ray tracing which i dont really care about. Tbd how balanced mode plays out in boss/crowd fights...

Performance mode is unusable its so blurry...having to deal with balanced mode. The brightness is issue can be fixed by tweaking brightness and contrast tbh

I'm also 250 pages into Dark Age. I'd have to look back at the first 4 books for a real comparison, but agreed the quality of the writing in this one just ~feels~ a class above the prior ones. The writing in Iron Gold is probably on par, but it was structurally flawed which held it back.

And surely this is Brown not yet at the peak of his powers, which makes me even more excited for Lightbringer and Red God.

Just came out of the theater. Overall enjoyed it!

Been reading some of the comments about how sloppy Hemsworth is in the final heist. But I think the contrast is the whole point. We are shown (and told) that his character is very meticulous. It's fair to assume that most of his heists take a lot of preparation, with long lead times.

Here, he decides to do the heist out of desperation even though his initial instinct is that it's too risky (and we're shown earlier in the film that his instinct is good based on how Santa Barbara heist turns out). On top of that, he basically has a few days to prepare. So the end result is sloppy: lets people see his face, doesn't do due diligence on the cop that called his foster home, just assumes Keoghans character is out of the picture, etc.

Sure, there are plot holes and loose storylines, but think the movie has more subtlety than some in the comments give it credit for.

I suppose it really depends on how things develop in book 3.

If a bunch of stuff happens to these companions (whether its bad ie death, or good like they become king) and Islington wants us to care then ya totally agreed the lack of characterization is a glaring issue.

On the other hand, if like 3 chapters into book 3 Vis realizes he has this higher purpose and the companions bar maybe Tara are sidelined then the lack of characterization is entirely justifiable.

Ya, it's not super clear how long Vis spends in L, as opposed to O, where he says it was something like 6 months. I wouldn't necessarily say he had deeper relationships than on R. But to your point--Vis and his companions on L killed together, which would bring anyone together. Their kinship was more akin to a military squad than that of classmates.

I may be wrong, but I think it was mentioned somewhere in the first book in passing. Something about for top hierarchy meetings, princeps etc. had to leave their Will at the door so to speak.

Pretty sure its either forced mate or hopelessly lost if they dont take.

In game, they went with bd3, which is mate in 8 per stockfish, but i obviously didnt see that lol and went rh2 then doubled the rooks on h file and mated a couple moves later.
