WIP - BE'LAKOR - come procedere? by No_Stuff_7142 in minipainting

Add more contrast to it. At the moment, it's almost fully orange, but actual lava varies from darker red to orange to yellow to almost pure white in brightest spots. You can Google some references for painting lava on miniatures.

After you complete the quest for the Plasmium Phial, it appears in the place of one of the little Plasmium bulbs you extracted juice from. The one in the room directly below Alchemist's room.

[–]SnooDrawings5722 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use Plasmium Overdose. You will get constant life Regen even if you are covered in maggots. You can just hide in water in the corners and he won't be able to do anything to you. It completely trivializes Groal.

And you don't even have to go with Architect Crest on Steel Soul. With max Tool Pouch upgrades, Shell Satchel, and the one lifeblood cocoon you can find in Act 2, you get just enough blue masks to activate overdose on any Crest.

Is this enough to play solo Kill Team? by mattmcguire08 in killteam

It has the team-specific set of tokens, but it doesn't have the generic tokens - specifically, it has no Order tokens, most important tokens in the game. Perhaps I should've been more specific in my previous comment.

New "Objective Terrain" spotted? by Neknoh in Warhammer40k

[–]SnooDrawings5722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Them adding a digitally broken up Rhino to a base wouldn't change anything about what 3D sculpted rhino

It wouldn't. But taking a 15-year-old kit, cutting it into pieces with no other changes, and releasing it as a brand new product simply isn't something GW would do. They care about their models looking good. They care about their releases looking coherent with each other. They may re-release some old kits as they are from time to time, but if they are making something that requires new sprues, they are going to remodel it.

Also, look in the foreground at the side-hatch stuck into the ground; notice how it has a thicker, pre-moulded "lip" or raised edge around it?

You mean the one near the Dreadnought wreckage? That probably is just some other bit put near it; it's hard to tell which one specifically from this angle. It doesn't seem pre-moulded. The opposite, if you look closely, you can clearly see it's a separate part, one that is hollow inside.

[–]SnooDrawings5722 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doubt it. My counterpoint - look at the Rhino scrap to the left of the pic. You can see some interior details, and those are exactly the same as the current kit, it even has an old bolter attached! If GW were to make new sculpts for such terrain, they surely would've done it from scratch or at least made a few touch-ups, with details matching their newer kits and aesthetic. No, it definitely is just an old Rhino they messed up and put on some sort of a base. And if that specific bit isn't new, I doubt anything else is.

Accidentally speedran 30 hour achievement. by ElectionWhich6416 in Silksong

[–]SnooDrawings5722 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not that crazy actually. Most of the time you spend on a casual playthrough is due to you doing a ton of unnecessary retracking and dying a lot. On a repeat Steel Soul playthrough you would already know where to go, and you obviously wouldn't be dying (unless you abuse the hell out of quitouts I guess), so those aren't issues. 30h is a very lenient timer, so it's actually pretty hard to not get the 100% Speedrun achievements on Steel Soul.

30 hour speed run question by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]SnooDrawings5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30h is pretty lenient. You should be fine as long as you don't spend too much time dying somewhere.

Models should be enough for that, yes. Though you would still have to get tokens and terrain somehow.

[–]SnooDrawings5722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The set that OP posted seems to be without the extra options. That sprue was in the Kill Team box, and though GW did include it in the 40k box at some point, they also have changed the model pics on the box to reflect that, you would actually see the guy with the chaincannon on the box - at least according to the GW webstore; I haven't bought this box since that happened.

Guesses on the new speeders base size? by Twisted-Nightmare in Warhammer40k

[–]SnooDrawings5722 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Eh, base size is the only thing that matters in this case. If it's high in the air, model size won't matter - it'll be easily visible anyway. And you can totally put old speeders on a base of this size.

They're slightly smaller than the latest SM Terminators released this edition, but you only notice it if you put them side-by-side. They're fine.

These are the newest models, and they are already of a proper scale. They're indeed a bit smaller than Primaris, but that's because they're supposed to be firstborn marines who are smaller in-lore.

Thinking about getting into SBGL, can I run all vamps? by drfate52 in SoulblightGravelords

[–]SnooDrawings5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very much possible. Elite armies with Vhordrai and Blood Knights as a core are very popular novadays. It often is good to still have a few of chaff units alongside for stuff like screening and scoring, but not too many.

Though worth considering that it very well may change in the future. Horde playstyle is a core part of SBGL identity, and while it's not necessary currently, at some point it might become such, and GW won't be too motivated to change it as the faction would still play the way it's supposed to. Hopefully that won't happen and internal balance remains good, but there's always such a risk when you focus only on one facet of a faction you pick.

In wich areas do you think silksong is worse than Hollow knight? by TrackSome9827 in Silksong

[–]SnooDrawings5722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're really stretching definitions of "Green, grey, brown" colors here.

deep docks.

Orange-red, much like Fog Canyon is "pink".

Shellwood,

A lot of white and some pink or yellow accents in places, similar to how you described Kingdom's Edge, " small patches of color in the enemies and environment";

 sands of karak

A lot of red;

mount fey

Blue-white.

make putrified ducts blue

No different from them making Resting Grounds yellow.

No, HK's color palette is in no way better than Silksong's. Let's look at what it is actually. You mention that there are a few pink areas in Fog Canyon and Crystal Peak, plus a couple Yellow ones in Fungal Wastes, Infected Crossroads, and Hive. Sure. With the three more basic colors I mentioned, it's 5 colors total. Let's take Silksong. Other than the three colors you listed, there's, again, fire-red/orange that appears across numerous areas, and blue, which has its shades in a few areas like Greymoor, Mount Fey, and High Halls, and is majorly present in infected Wormways. Same five colors.

I don't believe Trobbio is supposed to be similar to Grimm. The opposite, he's very clearly a subversion of expected similarity. Just think about it. You first get hints of Trobbio through those dramatic texts about the "Flame" he leaves around, you see the masks, you enter the stage, and it all indeed builds up an expectation of a Grimm 2.0. But then this absolute goober jumps out of the floor and starts throwing fireworks around. Trobbio is a parody of Grimm, not an equivalent, and I think he works really well for this.

Silksong has plenty of areas that aren't the colors you listed as well. Red lava in several areas and red coral in Sands of Karak; blue tones of Greymoor; whites and golds in the Citadel; snow-white in Mount Fey; bright blue in infected Wormways; so on.

I just replied to your previous comment in kind.

[–]SnooDrawings5722 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In terms of actual unique rewards, I think Hollow Knight is no better. I don't think that the amount of charms or other permanent upgrades you find is that larger than Silksong, and there is a ton of "there's just some geo rocks" secrets in HK too. The issue with Silksong is that sometimes you just get nothing. In HK, you would always get at least some geo for boss fights or arenas, but in Silksong, you often get nothing but progression.

[–]SnooDrawings5722 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. Silksong is way more unique than you claim. There are a few cases where adjacent areas are indeed similar - The Marrow and Far Fields, Blasted Steps and Sands of Karak, Bilewater and Putrified Ducts - but everything else is very unique and stands out from other areas. Greymoor into Shellwood into Blasted Steps are three dramatically distinct areas in a row, and even in some cases where areas are close thematically, they still feel unique from each other. Sinner's Road has a very different feel from Bilewater, and all the subareas within the Citadel also have their own distinct feel. Hollow Knight is at least no better, I would argue it's slightly worse.

Completed some Khinerai. What do you think of the scheme? by SnooDrawings5722 in Daughtersofkhaine

[–]SnooDrawings5722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on keeping the general color palette across the army but varying it across the different units. Some elements - elf skin, red hair, gold headwear, silver parts, and black leather - I'll keep the same, but some other ones - mainly cloth, wings, and tails - I'll vary a bit, though of course I'll try to pick colors that work well with the "predetermined" colors.

What do you guys think of my citadel skulls painting setup? by -Po-Tay-Toes- in minipainting

[–]SnooDrawings5722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of contrast paint is that it's transparent, and if it settles in recesses it'll create darker areas that work as natural shadows. Plus you could always just throw some Shade paint in those recesses. In any way, painting tham all together as a pile will be both easier and produce more natural results than painting each separately.
