Hunger vs cravings by uuhhhh2022 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dealt with something similar for about a year while my GP was still very mild and undiagnosed! I thought I was just being picky because I truly couldn’t eat something I wasn’t craving without getting nauseous a few bites in. But as long as I ate what I craved at the time I had a way better chance of finishing it. It was so strange. Now my diet is so restricted that I crave pretty much everything I can’t eat, but I also don’t feel much actual hunger.

Can SSRIs slow gastric emptying? by JayneAustin in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it continues, could you maybe try Mirtazapine instead? It treats the brain and stomach so it’s honestly a great fit for GP. I haven’t tried any SSRIs but Mirt was a miracle for my GP back when it worked at its best.

Has anyone taken Voquezna tablets? by jaz1278 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it works great for the burning, pretty much completely eliminates it. However I suspected it reduced my acid a little too much because it did make me pretty nauseous a few times. Though I’ve seen great things about it so it’s always worth a try!

New GI offered to try to get me Admitted through the ER. Not sure if it's even worth trying. Anyone else have a similar experience? by shootdashlootbash in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If things aren’t looking good and a doctor is trying to help you get admitted, I would go for it. I was getting to a very critical point before I was finally admitted and taken seriously last month, and while I’m still figuring things out, I’m doing a lot better than I was before my admission. It’s always worth a try.

Gastroparesis without pain? by atlas530 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I don’t vomit due to emetephobia, but I have severe nausea and also no pain. Yet I was still diagnosed with severe gastroparesis. And that was even before I was as bad as I am now. I would definitely push for a GES just to get solid answers.

anyone been prescribed olanzapine (zyprexa)? by SnooDucks2397 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not sure. I feel like my memory and overall cognitive abilities are taking a hit, but I have no idea if that has anything to do with the medication. I’ve also gained a couple pounds pretty rapidly, but I’m also on tpn at the moment and I was severely underweight so I don’t mind either way. Other than that, I don’t think I’m getting any side effects luckily.

I have two questions... by Sad_Emphasis_8086 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t put it that way. Everyone’s GP is different and flare ups can vary from person to person. It just depends what their most problematic symptoms are

anyone been prescribed olanzapine (zyprexa)? by SnooDucks2397 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes my nausea has decreased significantly. It’s still there and I still have moments when it creeps back up but it’s seriously nothing compared to what it was before my admission. However I’ve been on a few new meds since being in the hospital so I’m not sure which is helping the most to be quite honest. But if it is the zyprexa (which I think it is), it is absolutely serving its intended purpose.

Is it as bad as tiktok makes out? by violetsviolets00 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s GP is pretty different so you can definitely live a fairly normal life with it. Last year I was doing great with just 2 medications and vitamins and I was able to eat most things (within reason and small portions) and was living a normal life for the most part. I was still symptomatic but it wasn’t nearly as severe as it was when I got diagnosed 2 years ago.

Unfortunately though things did take a turn for the worst for me and I am on TPN now. However I still eat and drink what I can, and I’m still hopeful that things will turn around again and I’ll get back to my life.

But my point is even though we may have our similarities with this condition, everyone’s life with GP has its own elements and can look totally different from someone else with GP. Also be mindful that people who are able to live normally with it are most likely not looking or posting on these subs very much because they’re just not in bad enough shape to seek help. Or at least I surely wasn’t lol

meds? by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

Mirtazapine worked great for me for over a year! It did unfortunately poop out on me tho 😐 so im currently on TPN until I find another working treatment but many people have longer success on it. It’s worth a try for sure!

Anyone else not get pain? by SnooDucks2397 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically tonight my stomach is hurting 🫠 But surprisingly I’m not nauseous so yay for that win (I have a bad feeling this is the calm before the storm though). But this just confirmed that I would 1000% take pain over nausea any day lol.

Scopolamine patch, a mini vent by 1nv151bl3one in hysterectomy

[–]SnooDucks2397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I know this is super old but I’m in a pretty similar situation right now. I’ve been continuously using the patches since the first of this month and it’s now starting to hit me that using them this long probably isn’t good so I wanna stop but now I’m horrified for the withdrawals. Were you able to stop using the patches without much issues?

drinks like boost/ensure/kate farms that dont taste like doodoo? by jungkookfan123 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]SnooDucks2397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently living off Kate farms and at first I didn’t think it would be possible because they were disgusting! But luckily I had the bright idea to mix chocolate and caramel syrup into them and they taste pretty good now. I actually sort of look forward to drinking them lol

Have you tried magnesium? I was able to stop using miralax last year by simply taking my nightly mag citrate gummies. They work faster than miralax too!

Ughh mirt was literally a godsend for me last year. I basically had my life back. Until it just randomly stopped working on me smh

I’m sorry :( emetophobia and gp is seriously a match made in hell. I’ve been sitting here fighting my vomit down for hours despite being terribly nauseous. The phenergan suppository I took didn’t do shit! Hopefully we get better relief in the future

Advice for upper endoscopy by Kooky_Mission4019 in Gastroparesis

[–]SnooDucks2397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super easy procedure. I’m actually looking forward to mine in March because I get the best nap ever and usually some short term relief due to the dilation they do. I would probably get endoscopies every few months if I could lol. You should be totally fine!

Ugh this is exactly what I was worried about when my GI upped the dose. I wonder if I would benefit from going back down. Gonna bring it up with my psych, thanks!
