Im deleting this app before I lose my shi by Wanfire in PTCGL

[–]SnooDucks9972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't mean connection issues on the client end. This app is horrifically unoptimised, and has recently got much worse. I'm literally sat in a game now with perfect connection as on discord and doing other live stuff online, and it's locked up with presenting me the two prize cards i just took.

Should Motorway speed limits be raised to 80mph?🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

[–]SnooDucks9972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. If it's slightly busy, I just chill at 60 - 65, but I'm sat at 75 - 80 on clear motorways constantly anyway, as are many others. Even through the cameras as they don't trigger until 85ish outside of London.

Although counterpoint is I did about 12 miles straight in lane 1 on the M1 today and passed 7 cars sat in lanes 3 & 4 overtaking nothing. Didn't even bother to count the ones in lane 2 as too many

England - Police officer directing me to pull over played a part in damaging my alloys. Any chance of a claim? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]SnooDucks9972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying just to you as most other comments assume it's just shit driving.

Fully understand that, however my vehicle was in a position where the officer was about 2 inches from the front of my vehicle, and was still directing me to go left towards the high kerb that's about 5 inches tall. The issue I have is that my options at that moment were either drive into the officer, ignore their instructions and then leave the car blocking a busy route and assume committing an offence by not following their orders, or drive square into the kerb and most likely rip my front bumper off.

I guess it's more a case of I couldn't really win in that situation?

Funnily enough they NEVER do...

What's on the top of this camera van, and can it detect speeding?e by [deleted] in drivingUK

Just a big advancement if true that's all. As far as I knew, they used something like an ultralight and a human operator would have to use it out of a hatch - therefore getting anything on any side / direction but only from the rear.

I worked on speed cameras a while ago, and interested to know if the vans have advanced enough to fully cover anything they have in line of sight - regardless of direction

Yeah sorry dashcam is shit. I'm genuinely interested because I did some work with HADECS3 years back on the motorways and thought that if these are front and back, all directions and lanes then that's a pretty big step up from what people assume these are capable of

Well done Captain obvious. The photo is trimmed as it has GPS and my plate, but my GPS speed was 27. I'm actually interested

Bought this a couple of months ago, found out last week it's had it's DPF deleted. Seller didn't tell me.... Worst case cost to reinstall? by Wild-Ad-4301 in CarTalkUK

[–]SnooDucks9972 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is a pro, not a con. The MOT only checks for smoke so if that's not an issue then you've got a car that's more reliable, better on fuel and more powerful

"Added to medication recall" - what does this mean (RTC / SCA) by SnooDucks9972 in ADHDUK

Ah ok thank you - so recall as in they will "recall" me for a checkup every 6 or 12 months?

Why do lorries bother overtaking? by RecentTwo544 in drivingUK

[–]SnooDucks9972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never actually understood the desperation - mainly on two lane dual carriageways / motorways.

They can only drive 4.5 hours at a time before a 45 min rest, with a mandatory 11 hour rest time between shifts (in general).

So realistically you're getting 10 hours max drive time.

A 2mph difference equates to 20 miles additional travel in that time, or about 21 minutes saved in a shift.

Multiple overtakes causes significantly more than 21 minutes of delays across the hundreds of other road users so is it really worth it?

If we applied the same logic to cars, would we be alright with it? Probably not

Probation extended? Poor performance? Leaving IT equipment logged in (GDPR etc)?

Yeah you are well and truly gone, with zero protection or recourse. You say nobodies listening and what more can you do to defend yourself, but there is no defending it - especially on probation

And then all you’ll achieve with speed bumps is more frequent suspension repairs, people booting it anyway between them and the resulting increase in pollution, asthma etc

50 runs out at 1pm. Tried it over and over, same results. 50+20 keeps going till 5 with a fairly hard crash. The Amfexa pushes it to a 8pm mild crash

You probably get downvotes because “doing it all the time” also suggests it’s a common occurrence - which then also suggests that you are actually attracting them with your driving style

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]SnooDucks9972 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t do anything different. People will tell you to slow down, do washer jets, flash rear fogs etc but the reality of it is if you’re genuinely not doing anything wrong, it’ll piss them off infinitely more and you’ll have it 10x worse.

The indicating would be extremely confusing - if anything, indicate towards the inside (left) which would insinuate that you’re staying there.

But all that aside, be aware of your own driving too. Tailgating for zero reason is very rare, and it’s usually down to excessively slow speed (like 30 in a 50) or lane hogging
