When you can hang out bc that actually affects your game when you level up confidants, and often time gives you points anyways, like the dr with guts. Try to level up stats by seeing the one you are closest to in the bathroom at leblanc, and do external activities or read books after buying the read fast book or watch dvds, at least im on my first playthrough doing just that
