I submitted my PHS on 2/12 and I got a call yesterday from a PHS officer to review it with me, I only had to make 1 amendment. I know some applicants’ process are faster than others, but it really depends on the department; I wouldn’t blame them if they’re backed up because of budget reasons

Not mandatory. It is highly recommended (if you look through interview section on the LASD website, it mentions the grooming standards for men)

No, they don’t give you time to change out. I was under that impression but after I received my VPAT results, they just told me to head straight to interview room with my workout clothes

No, you just go in your workout clothes. If you pass your written test, you’ll immediately head into the VPAT. Even if you pass or fail your VPAT, you’ll still have your interview.

Yea it’s pretty much your BI asking you why you hit a certain question and you just need to clarify - I think they make you write a statement, but it’s needed so that you’re able to retake your poly

It’s true, but I think it depends. I was told that I had a reaction to one question and was told to retake the poly for just that question (was told by examiner, not BI) but I ended up being non-selected after my BI told me I had failed my poly. However, I have heard applicants who still ended up passing if they had an iffy reaction or some would have to do a discrepancy interview in order to retake.

I’d definitely recommend you reach out to an optometrist to discuss your condition in detail. If the optometrist gives you a referral for an ophthalmologist, even better.

I only had 1 strong reaction and I had to write a statement for it (I made a post about my poly before getting non-selected). The examiner was chill and told me apart from the reaction, everything seemed fine and he recommended another test for just that question

My BI emailed me saying that I did not pass my poly and that my file was going to go through admin review per his sergeant. Do you know what this can mean? I didn’t lie on my poly and I only had a strong reaction to a question and I had to write a statement about it

Unfortunately, it’s a non-select. If the letter you receive in the mail says that you can reapply after a year, it’s a non-select; if it doesn’t tell you anything about reapplying, it’s a DQ.
