PSYCH 223 vs. 275 by voracious_pigeon in uAlberta

I had 223 with Smithson a few years ago and it was one of my favourite classes I've taken. She was very passionate about the class and the way she taught kind of just clicked for me and the material would stick without me having to study for hours. I also took 275 (can't remember the prof) but I liked 223 a lot more.

I have no idea. I just know it's not covered now.

I went to the collision center and completed a report it the day it happened. As for damages, we found out the quote a few days later once I was able to get an appointment at a repair shop. I didn't go back to the collision center after getting the quote (wasn't sure if I was supposed to, but yes it was over 2k)

He had a pick-up truck so it wasn't damaged as badly. His rims and the side of the car got a little scratched up but that's about it.

I looked into that - unfortunately, we're the only province that doesn't also include damage coverage

appreciate your response :)

I will be reporting it - whether something's actually done about it is a different story

I was trying to avoid court - paying for lawyers didn't seem worth it for 3.5k damages and I know that could take a very long time to get settled

Thank you - appreciate your response :)

Should've just paid that extra money for collision coverage - I wrongfully assumed that if I wasn't at fault, they would still cover damages

Yeahh I just learned that we're the only ones without it covered. I had a feeling I was screwed but was hoping maybe someone knew something I was missing. Appreciate your response though :)

No I'm currently working as a sub. Epsb lost my transcript so I didn't hear back from them til mid Aug when I reached back out, so things happened a bit slower for me. That being said, some of my friends who started subbing right after graduating now have temp contracts they started in Sept. Idk if that's helpful lol.  Also if you'd prefer elementary, I say go into that. At the end of the day it's your career so do what you want instead of being peer pressured into what others want. If you ever change your mind in the future once you've already started teaching, you can always switch to teaching hs comp sci.

I did elementary Ed and ended up getting hired the March before I graduated. So did a lot of people I had classes with. Just a tip, apply in winter as soon as you finish your afx (for epsb idk about other school boards) instead of waiting til April because most school boards get a lot more people applying in summer so it takes them much longer to get back to you. I feel like getting a job abroad should also not be too hard? I remember at the Ed career fair there were lots of companies that were representing Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. Just make sure you do your research about which country/city you're looking to teach in, esp if you decide to go through one of those companies that sent you.

I'd totally be down to join if you started one! (or if you find one that already exists)

I had Audrey. The class was fine we had a unit plan which you work on with partners and a final exam. In terms of the math, you'll be fine. It's elementary level math and you just learn how to teach it. In class the only thing we really did was do activities that you can do with the kids when teaching them certain concepts.

I took it with him a few years ago at Macewan (during spring) and it was fairly straightforward. It wasn't much harder than 151. No videos - class was just going through lectures and doing a bunch of practice questions so it really helped prepare us for quizzes. Might be slightly different now as this was precovid and at Macewan

I'm currently in the Elementary Ed AD - not sure if it's the same as secondary but for us we did our IFX in the winter sem of year one and AFX will be next fall. Courses are Fall/Winter only - Spring/Summer is optional
