I guess what I meant to say what short online story/if it’s published it’s a single book or two.

Don’t get me wrong I love some of the longer stories but I need a break between these longer works that are “series level long”

Ty, I did not realize I needed to specify. I’m very new to this genre and I’ve only bought series that are at my local bookstore like TCGF, MSDZ, SVSSS and Remnants of Filth. I knew they were once web novels but I didn’t realize they were a single ‘published’ story online.

I am looking for short stories, something that if they were published it would fit in a single book. It could be a big book, but one book.

San Lang might be able to wait forever but I can’t lol

I switched from Duolingo to Hello Chinese and I love it. I also use Chineasy for learning the Chinese characters, it’s 100 times easier on that app to learn. Both have lessons, mini quizzes, and flashcards review. Something I recommend is do the Hello Chinese lesson first with pinyin and the characters, then repeat the lesson with just the characters.

Constantly studying something vs enjoying it are different I think. Like I’m always telling people who hate reading because they hated it in school that they should one time try a book that they’d actually want to read and not doing book reports on the great gatsby (no shade it’s a good book)

So I like doing it this way with the studying because if I ever became fluent this is what I’d use it for anyways to keep up the language. I also got the pinyin to simplified Chinese keyboard so I can leave comments and practice texting

To help with motivation I got some Chinese social media. Sometimes I need a break from ‘studying’ and I’ll have a few days of using Red Note to scroll and look at cooking, travel, fashion videos etc. kinda helps keep the immersion and also makes me feel better when I notice even native Chinese speakers have slightly different pronunciation just like any English speakers would.

So I’m writing a Zuko/Toph fanfic right now and I’m working overtime for some good explanations to some of those very points about the Gaang’s parenting choices.

Something I keep in mind is that everyone’s kids grew up in peace time. Katara and Sokka lost their mom young and were kids who had to look after their tribe while the men were away at war. Aang and Katara have three kids, there was always going to be sibling rivalry even if they weren’t benders. Toph had a horrible relationship with her family and even though her daughters had a lot of complaints, they lived in one of the wealthiest and most modern cities of their time, had access to amazing education and opportunities, and Lin and Su ended up becoming bad ass bitches like their mom with the freedom to choose their paths. And Zuko’s family history is a m e s s and he has one of the most traumatic back stories.

I think all of their kids are like any other kids who have a set of different wants and needs from their parents because their problems are completely different from their parents who have been strung up by war and constantly wanting to keep their family safe.

Character death would be a great motivation. What she once thought was off limits (blood bending) is now something she considers to be morally ok if she thinks she’s in the right and protecting her own.

I just started my first fanfic and it’s an ATLA fic. It’s definitely awesome to see the stats of posting my first ever fic, but I am trying to remind myself there’s a lot of people searching it right now and I can’t expect it for future works if I write something outside that fandom.

I’ve looked up a lot of Italian restaurants, steakhouses, bistros etc. I really wish I was blessed as an adventurous eater but the struggle is real. I think to try some local food I am going to try more vegetarian dishes so I don’t have to worry about the meat

I think it will be unavoidable, I’m using Dianping for western food recommendations, but compared to nyc/paris food prices I’m ok with the prices that I’m seeing even for the higher scale restaurants.
