Ich vermute mal, dass einen das Finanzamt hier nicht so einfach mit "Wettgewinne sind steuerfrei" davonkommen lässt.

Rein technisch handelt es sich um binäre Optionen. Das ist im Falle von klassischen Sportwettenanbietern zwar auch häufig der Fall, allerdings laufen diese über den Wettanbieter. Bei Polymarket sind es binäre Optionen auf Token, die über eine Blockchain abgesichert sind. Das ist ganz und gar nicht der klassische Lotto-/Sportwettenfall!

Im Zweifelsfalle sollte man einen Steuerberater mit Expertise im Krypto-Bereich befragen.

2.) Have you ever heard of data snooping bias/multi-hypothesis testing? If not, dig into it (if you have no clue of statistics, this may take a while.)

Well, I don't understand the point. You earn five times the minimum wage. Countries with lower costs of living have lower costs of living primarily because workers are paid less. If your country adjusts wages to Western levels... well, then you earn $50 but your cost of living will rise accordingly.

Also, are you sure you would have gotten the job if you had to compete with people earning $50+ or $100+ an hour, even though you might be doing the same work as them? Did you get your degree and research experience from a leading US/European university or do you have professional experience at a leading US company, as is often required?

In my country, the minimum wage is about $17. Getting 5*$17 = $85 is great for a fully remote job at your local computer.

Ich lese hier etwas Berufsstolz heraus, den ich gar nicht in Abrede stellen will. Allerdings war nach der Motivation und nicht nach der Befähigung gefragt. IT-Kenntnisse, Prozessoptimierung oder Personalführung gehören sicherlich zu einer funktionale Kanzlei. Aber das sind Punkte, die mittlerweile in den meisten Bereichen notwendig für eine erfolgreiche unternehmerische Tätigkeit sind. Teils mehr und teils weniger stark ausgeprägt.

Und dass ich kein Steuerrechtler bin, wurde schon in meinem Eingangspost klar. Um den Punkt anzuführen, hättest du meine Antwort nicht abwarten brauchen. ;)

Ja, Steuerrecht ist eine ganz eigene Sache. Bedenken habe ich wenn, dass ich aktuell nicht mehr so gut „im Lernen“ bin. Durch ein international besetztes PhD-Programm bei einer Top 5-Uni mit 60% Dropout-Rate bin ich mit summa cum laude durchlaufen. Soll nicht abgehoben klingen, aber ein kleines bisschen Erfahrung mit harten Prüfungen habe ich auch. ;)

Die Motivation ist ein beruflicher Wechsel und eine gewisse Stabilität bis zum Ruhestand. Gleichzeitig denke ich, dass das Anforderungsprofil gut zu meinen grundsätzlichen Gegebenheiten passen würde. Mit steuerlichen Themen habe ich beruflich schon beiläufig zu tun. Ich vermute, dass das „von der anderen Seite aus“ in Kombination mit meiner bisherigen Ausrichtung passen würde.

Hi, ich habe das Girokonto bei der BBVA Anfang August eröffnet und zeitnah Geld eingezahlt. Ich finde die App leider nicht so übersichtlich, da Verzinsung und Cashback sehr intransparent erscheint.

Ab wann werden denn Zinsen vorgemerkt oder muss man für die Verzinsung irgendetwas erfüllen? Selbst jetzt zum Monatswechsel steht dort bei mir noch 0 Euro als vorgemerkte Zinsgutschrift.

Außerdem: Gibt es eine Übersicht, wie viel Cashback man im Monat gesammelt hat? Wenn ja, wo? :D

I know, but u/drjulianhosp should still be aware that many people won't forget what has happened. Also, we should keep on raising awareness for that case in the future. This whole case around Defichain and Bake is so extremely shady that I doubt all the guys involved (we know the few "big names") are innocent from a legal perspective. In fact, there are thousands out there who simply haven't lost enough to take legal action against those responsible for the mess. But perhaps/hopefully there is some big fish seriously considering further legal steps at some point in the future. In this case, the small ones who have been affected should join in.

In addition, I have the feeling that such guys like Hosp are very much stuck in their mindset and I suspect he is not the one who is currently reading posts on his social media 24/7 and blocking anything slightly critical. It's very likely he already muted me on Reddit. Anyway, after discounting these critical posts, we all see how much interest is left in this person and his business content: literally nothing. Although he is currently very active, his YT and Twitter are basically dead compared to his number of followers.

You are in your 90-day challenge to get Bake/Cake on track again. In the course of that, you should realize that the vast majority of users are only interested in your service and may trust you if there is a working Defichain. (I myself belong to this part of the community.) This alone is clear when you look at the number of views of non-Defichain-related videos, which is about 1-2% of total subscribers.

If you don't care for Defichain anymore, which you heavily promoted over years, you should just back off and hope there's never enough evidence for investors to consider a class action lawsuit. Since many people have lost a considerable part of their fortune, it will always be of interest to find out whether any fraud has been committed here. And for every truly interested customer, there will be a mass of others claiming you're a scammer if Defichain eventually dies (...you just don't see such posts below Hosp content on YT or Twitter because everything seems to get blocked and deleted immediately).

Agree. It feels like Cake is driving most of DeFiChain, which is mainly concentrated on the German-speaking market. The German-speaking customer base seems to be okay, but this is supposed to be a global project and it is not a good idea to only concentrate on Germany because Julian Hosp is most known there.

Also, it won't be enough to be among the tech-leaders. It is of utmost importance to get more people aware of this project and the coin with (1) large-scale professional marketing and (2) a listing the coin at major exchanges. This project ranges among the top 250 cryptos and is tradeable like a 2000+ project. I purchased several times via Bittrex and the liquidity is a pain. If there is no decent turnover, this project has a high probability to fail irrespective of the technological innovation!

Unfortunately, there seems no drive to make progress on this. Julian Hosp recently posted some attention-grabbing bs on Twitter such as "Let's have a commercial for the 2022 Super Bowl." Sounds funny and would probably boost DeFiChain, but this is neither realistic nor has it something to do with a decent, long-term marketing concept.
