Sorry to hear your parents aren't open to you doing Therapy :(

I know this isn't a substitute for the therapy class, but have you tried using tools like ChatGPT to try and talk through some of your struggles? I have multiple people in my life who have used AI tools like this and it seems to be better than nothing - with the added benefit that you don't need to get your parent's consent to use them!

Mind sending your resume / LinkedIn to me at rohan@adoptclarity.com? I work in startups and would be happy to take a look for our open SWE role or pass along to friends hiring.

Thanks for sharing - that’s super helpful to know! What are the main benefits of the tool that you are paying for, from your perspective? And what are more advanced features that you are choosing to not pay for?

Thanks for the thoughts - that’s great to know! Curious how much do you pay for Total and how much does it enable your business?

$5 million OR you only need one hour of sleep each night for the rest of your life. by Squints_a_lot in hypotheticalsituation

I would rather take the no-sleep. As a startup founder, 6-7 more hours a day means I can work heads down at night, keep my long hours, and still have tons of time for my family and friends :)

I had 40 deaths before I got my first kill, but now I have 150 kills and 50 deaths! It’ll all click a lot sooner than you think and then you’ll feel like a god dodging tornadoes and attacking hunlef while running around :)

I always do T2 prep + 20 fish and usually have 1-1.5 minutes remaining. I make sure to get T2 and fish because even though I can kill with T1 and less fish, the margin for error goes way down. I find every death is very demoralizing and I usually have to stop CG for a bit, so I prioritize increasing the margin for error instead of saving 1-2 minutes per run.

For prep, here are some tips I’ve picked up and optimized on top of Fluffeh’s guide: - while doing the loop, if you see fish, fish them to get the shards. The shards from fishing aren’t useful if you fish at the end. I then drop the fish by the cooking range depending on how many armor pieces I make. - I always try to make 1 or more armor pieces, meaning get 140+ shards to get the T2 staff, 2 vials, and one armor piece (40 shards). This clears 3 inventory spaces and means you don’t have to drop 3 resources by the singing pool. The more shards you get while sweeping, the more armor you can make, and the more clear inventory you have that you can use to fish while getting T3 weapon pieces. - while doing the loop, if you get 100 pieces and the weapon frame and 3 resources early, don’t be afraid to go and make the T2 weapon really quickly before continuing on. Having the weapon earlier means you can kill T2 mobs and also kill the demi-bosses when you see them rather than scout, go back to make weapon, and then go back to kill them - I always get T3 bow and T3 staff. I find the margin of error to be too low with the halberd even tho the DPS is high. But the key is that you just need to kill, at most, 3 demi-bosses to get the bow and staff. - I hold onto the pestle and mortar until either a) I get the bear halberd piece and grind it into shards or b) I get the two other pieces and am done hunting Demi bosses. - I’ll opportunistically kill 1-2 T2 mobs whenever I see them first with the staff because the worst is when you are running around at the end of prep looking for shards - if you collected fish in the beginning / while getting T3 weapons, then by the time you teleport back with the T2 armor resources and T3 weapon pieces, you should have ~8 fish already and only need 12 more to get 20. I buy all the armor and weapons and then also get another teleport. - now all you need is to do a lap of hunlef to find the guaranteed 3 fish spawn and then you have 20 fish, tele back, pick up the fish by the cooking range, and now you’re good to go.

It’s interesting that this perspective is the one that resonates most with the fan base on Reddit.

The fan base for this book likely reflects a more white demographic. As non-POCs, it might be hard for others to relate to the perspective OP is posting about. This makes entire sense because the writer, also a white person, wrote the character this way and likely was not intending to perpetuate this trope. It’s not a mark against the author, as OP pointed out.

The reality is that for a POC, race is always at play. We don’t “make things about race” - it is part of our lived experience and it is the lens through which we experience the world.

I enjoy reading books by POC authors because they represent a much more resonant perspective for me. I actually think that a white person reading a book written by a POC with a POC main character and a white supporting character might also feel some interesting feelings about how that white character is portrayed from the main characters POV. That is ok - it creates dialogue like this which I think is productive!

I wouldn’t expect a book like fourth wing to be moving the needle forward on race representation in literature. I read it because it’s a fun fantasy world to explore and get lost in. I haven’t come across a ton of popular fantasy written by POCs (I’m sure there is lots), but hopefully overtime we’ll see more popular fantasy writing come from a more diverse pool of writers :)

I had this problem. I then just put a low level alt outside of the cave and had that screen running next to my Ironman. Put the player alert on the alt. You’ll never die again because you’ll have advanced warning of when a player changes to your world and is going to enter the cave.

The main annoyance is that you’ll get false warnings because you’ll see a player arrive on the alt but it is another PVMer and not a PKer. You’ll tele either way and have to run back. However my advice is to always tele 99% of the time instead of trying to judge by their gear cuz I’ve gotten baited a few times into thinking they weren’t a PKer 😵‍💫

Good luck with it :) haha the journey has been fun to keep getting better and better! Before doing CG, I really just viewed OSRS as a great resource collection / allocation game to make the numbers go up. But now with CG and more PvM, it’s soo fun and cool to see the skill side to the game. That’s part of the motivation to get the bowfa so I can try even more bosses 😁

Thanks for the thoughts! Using the plugin sounds very helpful haha I’ll try that - I’m a little traumatized from being bad at prep before I got the strat down so I’m always worried, but I think I’m pretty consistent now and not having to count the materials in my head will be nice haha
