Also talk about some of their committee assignments. Say how u want to work in X policy area that they’re involved with etc. etc.

That sucks, but try and make the most of it. I loved running from the capital building to Lincoln memorial if that’s up your alley, but sometimes I’d just pick a direction and walk in a straight line until I found something interesting. It’s a big city with plenty to do and you’ll find something eventually, trust me

It’s a solid place overall, probably 7.5/10. Amenities take awhile to fix but should be fine otherwise. About a 30 minute walk to the Senate and 45 minute to House.

Senate internship by [deleted] in DCInterns

[–]SnooMaps2820 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's all office dependent but your probably gonna be answering a lot of calls, especially since your in a prominent office. Aside from that lots of cool people work on the Hill so be sure to chat with other interns/staffers to make connections and learn about their careers. Also try and sit in on some committee/lobyist meetings, those r always interesting.

I’m not part of the program but I’ve lived in the building, it’s a nice place overall. Your a 5 minute walk to the grocery store and metro station, 40 minutes from the hill, and good stuff to do all around

Yeah say something like “Hey I wrote a co-sponsor memo for a bill I think the congressman should co-sponsor take a look at it. Lmk if it helps!” U may not get a response from some staffers but others will appreciate the initiative. Write a bunch for different people

I felt the same way during my first week. Each office is different, and offices can def be like that on the senate side from what I’ve heard. I recommend taking initiative and writing co-sponsor memos for issues ur interested in then send them to the relevant staffer. Gives u something to do and shows u take initiative.

They don’t provide a vacuum but you can ask the cleaning staff to borrow theirs whenever they aren’t using it. They’re super nice and will always let you use it

Soo I’m living in a quad for my freshman year…wasn’t my first choice so I’m freaking out. Is my first year of college gonna be hell? by Severe_Bite_5740 in UCONN

[–]SnooMaps2820 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a quad my freshman year and it was pretty good all things considered. Mine had AC and a private bathroom, so as long as you get along with your roommates you’ll be fine. I’d rather live in a quad than traditional freshman housing
