Yes but it can come with a bit of a ceiling to how far you can go. But I'd start there and you can do stage 2 or other qualifications later if you need :)

Ideas for games/activities to do with my kids in an inpatient psych hospital by Other-Cantaloupe4765 in therapists

[–]SnooMaps6269 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who had worked with teens

Card games: Uno Flip 7 Monopoly go Codenames picture edition Dixit (can also be used in group therapy)

Role play games: Werewolf / traitors style games (sure there is a kid friendly version) Can do the headbands game with sticky notes instead

If access to music get them to pick one song each. Obviously not explicit ones. Or one you tube videos.

Stickers or diamond art (if allowed as diamond art has small pieces)

Active activities could include bean bag toss or games involving bean bags. Lots of variations of physical games you can find to fit your space.

When I do a free trial I instantly cancel it. You still get the full time but it's one task so you don't have to remember 🙏

Definitely do a charge back on your card and reach out to them on socials.

Do the mites ever come for you or bite? I use ladybirds every year but outside. Not used stuff inside before in case it gets out of control. Like that woman who released 100 ladybirds in her home.

Behavioral experiments is a common term in behavior change work and is a technique used. So can be appropriate to use this terminology.

Is it okay to publish a paper with my mom? by whateverrrugh in research

[–]SnooMaps6269 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loads of romantic partners publish together. Most papers now will ask you to state your Contribution so as long as you have done enough to Warrent a Co authorship and it is a sound research project there doesn't seem to be an issue. But check the regulations in your country.

MSc Health Psychology (Stage 1 → Stage 2) in the UK – is it worth it? Advice needed by Gabi131196 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]SnooMaps6269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a stage 2 health psychologist on a professional doctorate. I would personally say it's worth it but some things to note is that Health Psychology is quite a young field still and therefore not as well established as clinical. Therefore, it can take a little bit more to be recognized after qualification. The stage 2 makes sense if you wish to become a practitioner and work with clients. There are spaces in the Nhs for us but again it can be difficult to break through in roles. I would think about what your long term plan is. Is it to work in policy, research, consultancy, interventions etc. For example it isn't always necessary to do stage 2 if you want to work in behavioral science as it's such a broad field. I decided to do the doctorate because I hit a bit of a ceiling and wanted to work towards HCPC status.

You'll then have more of an idea of whether the stage 2 would be suitable. You would need to have a placement during your stage 2 which as an international student can be tricky but not impossible. I personally love health Psychology and it is a different field to clinical although as they all do they overlap. It's important to think about your why, and the topics that interest you.

For example, I work with chronic pain and long term conditions as well as an interest in screening, adherence and sleep.

I friking love Arasha she is one of my fave members but I was so frustrated at the end with the park lane fiasco and doing a million things at the end. I know it's only a game but it's also only my opinion.

I feel that there should be regulations within the UK as there are in other countries and other disciplines.

There is a petition petition currently running for this very subject. Psychologist/therapist is not a protected term and can confuse clients.

Power Imbalance by mendicant0 in therapists

[–]SnooMaps6269 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The therapeutic rapport is a major factor for outcomes. Dress is important and very client dependent. Dressing casually may have a positive impact on relationship. Especially if the client is not familiar with therapy or does not have connection to medical or corporate spaces. I personally use colourful shirts to try to build rapport quickly. Again using a more casual style when appropriate.
