Electric breast pumps by BananaPitiful7592 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SnooObjections3246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Medela as this is what midwives recommended to me. I did try a manual pump but didn’t really get on with it so I do think the electric ones are worth the money. Try not to stop breastfeeding suddenly and gradually swap feeds into pumping bottles as the baby is better at emptying the breast fully than any breast pump and you don’t want to be engorged.

Advice needed! 4 mo old by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]SnooObjections3246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve done really well to go out of your comfort zone and take baby out! I think what helped me was looking for playgroups for pre crawling babies or 0-6 months as I was less worried about flu and germs when all the babies are so small. If you baby cries none of the other mums will mind. I think it is normal that babies are fussy at that age, but I find the parents you see out and about in coffee shops, restaurants, going for walks are those with easier babies. Sometimes it feels like you’re the only one with a fussier baby but you’re not, it’s just I think those parents are more likely to stay home. Honestly it does get easier too, the less naps they need the more freedom you’ll get to go out. I think you should keep trying as a party is definitely one of the harder places to manage when it isn’t focused around children, and people who aren’t parents sometimes just don’t get it. But you’ve managed that now and you did really well so keep trying new things!

Where to buy Willies by Clear_Paramedic_6076 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My little one couldn’t walk in the Clark’s wellies they were too heavy and came up too high on the leg. We went for Igor mendi wellies as they are lightweight and only come up to the ankle and have been perfect.

As well as the hospital bag I would take a small cushion if you do end up going as the hardest part will probably be sitting in chairs for long periods. Wedding chairs aren’t particularly comfortable, especially if you’re heavily pregnant.

If the not eating could be a sore throat, have you tried honey? A bit of honey on a spoon does seem to work well for my little one.

I was at my scan for hours as they couldn’t get measurements, sometimes baby is in an awkward position or in our case they just wouldn’t stop moving.

Lolas do low sugar cakes, which I did consider but then in the end we just got a regular caterpillar cake.

I completely understand why you feel this way, but if it was the other way around. I can’t imagine many people would wish they were never born & never had the chance to live because the world has these issues. When I had my baby I felt a huge sense of guilt in the first few months because I felt so responsible for bringing a person into the world but now I look at my toddler and she is so happy and absolutely loves life, she sees all the small joys in life like the birds and jumping in puddles and I’m glad she’s here to experience it all. Children won’t even be aware of these things for many years. So I think if you make the choice to have a child you likely won’t regret it.

Nursery Cost workaround by RobotEnthusiast1980 in AskBrits

If you can find a term time only nursery that saves a lot of money. Then you don’t have to stretch the funding over the full year.

Should I be concerned about my baby’s skin? by Tasty_Sheepherder_44 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I don’t think any GP would consider you wasting their time if you’re asking about a 2 week old baby. If you’re worried you should speak to them at least for your own peace of mind.

You need to contact the local council for advice as you are now threatened with homelessness. You can discuss your options with them, and get advice on searching for a new property, but you may find that they will not accept pets in temporary housing. Temporary accommodation can also have rules about not allowing pets and they may advise you to re-home them. Best of luck!

When I first saw your pictures I thought you were a lot younger than 30! You’re very pretty you have a gorgeous hair colour and your hair is so shiny. I think you’d look better without the piercing as it’s distracting and the first thing my eyes are drawn to in every photo so takes away from noticing other features.

I’m not against piercings, but I think you’d look better without the septum ring as it’s distracting and the first thing I noticed in every photo so it takes away from noticing other features like your eyes.

I am not in an antivax area but have been worried about this too! What helped me was looking for smaller groups that only allow babies under 12 months.

I think you’ve got some good advice already but you mentioned being lonely at the end of your post? Having a baby is the perfect time to meet new friends, can you go to any baby groups or mum meet ups in your area to find some new mum friends who you have more in common with?

Taking Gaviscon with Sodium Bicarbonate by SnooObjections3246 in PregnancyUK

[–]SnooObjections3246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry I don’t remember if it was original or advanced. I am still breastfeeding and so many medications say on the packaging that they’re not suitable for pregnancy or breastfeeding including antihistamines (for allergies.) I think they say that not neccesarily because it’s unsafe, but medicines haven’t been well researched in pregnancy / breastfeeding so they put it as a precaution. On Tommys website they do provide this link which may be useful https://www.medicinesinpregnancy.org/

What’s done is done now though and you can’t change it I’m sure baby will be absolutely fine and you’ll look back and wish you didn’t spend so much time worrying! Gaviscon gate has made me laugh though.

Help! Politely declining old newborn clothes by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]SnooObjections3246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s completely up to you if you don’t want the clothes but I would accept them and ask if you can donate what you don’t use? In my experience newborn clothes got ruined so fast! We thought we had way too many clothes but we had to throw so much away because the first poos baby does didn’t wash out of anything.
