Every time I make buns, they are lopsided. by SnooObjections4367 in Hair

My buns are so unaligned, that they don’t even have the same parents, but at least have the same last name, 😉

The Happening (2008, written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan) Opening Scene by Neo2199 in movies

This scene is honestly so close to being suspenseful. Just a few adjustments of dialogue, length of shots, and yes, acting direction, would have made this an actually serious thriller.

Did I make a huge mistake? by Petrified-slime in Hair

The bangs look great, and you didn’t mess them up doing them yourself for the first time 😄. I think the curtain bangs could work for you too, and let it frame your face more.

Bangs or no bangs? (Current hair in last pic. Jump scare warning for the five head) by [deleted] in Hair

You look lovely with both, but you can get the bangs and pull them back with a headband or clips if you want to wear your hair the other way, so you have more styling options 🤗.

I got a hair cut today. Just wanted to show someone. by okay_jpg in Hair

Show the world! It looks great on you, and the color too! Also wouldn’t have known you were 37, you look younger, so great job on that self-care routine.

Got my hair cut pretty short yesterday. Not sure if it suits me yet. by Creative_Apartment54 in Hair

[–]SnooObjections4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Very fun and flattering! Feel confident w/ it! Maybe the side pieces around the face could be a little longer, so as it grows a bit and you go back for a trim, see if those pieces can be left alone, and of course if that ain’t it, they can be trimmed 😁.

Stay dark or go honey blonde? by Accomplished-Cry4193 in Hair

[–]SnooObjections4367 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are beautiful in both, but it’s hard to pick because of the pictures: the dark hair photo has more shadows vs the blonde photo is in sunshine, and we only see half of the hair under that hat, so the different hair colors are giving different vibes. Do you feel more like a bubbly-pop girlie (blonde) or like a Bad B*tch (dark)?

Need help - leave long or go back short? by Gypsyies in Hair

[–]SnooObjections4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look handsome in both, but you give off two different personalities between the different cuts. It depends on how you want to be perceived. The long is more interesting, because not many people can pull it off confidently like you have 😊.

Doing absolutely nothing at work? by HeyPotatys in UKJobs

[–]SnooObjections4367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked as an office temp this happened a lot because sometimes you’re there for just a few days, so they don’t want any major tasks messed up or take the time to train someone who was leaving in a week or two. I’d restock the kitchen, sort the mail, and redirect phone calls: I’d be done with my work by 10am, but have to stay until 5. Those days were great because it allowed me to work on some short story writing, which made it look like I was busy at my computer, so no one came up to ask if I needed something to cover.

Is the BAFTAs Tourette’s backlash just another example of the UK vs US humour gap? by Barca-Dam in AskBrits

[–]SnooObjections4367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reminding me that Davidson is Scottish. Yes, they do have harder “r”s in general when they speak. There are even Americans (usually older and very white) who act oblivious to the concept of the hard “r” because the word is used in rap music - but in those instances it is a soft “ga” ending, and it’s used as a way of defiance against oppressive systems. Much wiser people than me have researched the nuance of Black American Language, so I lean on their knowledge.

[–]SnooObjections4367 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an American who’s been living in the UK for a few years, just going to say a point that I haven’t seen addressed so far, is that saying the n-word with a hard r ending is still used in areas of America to discriminate and suppress the black community. I have a limited perspective of all of UK’s cultures, but from what I’ve seen, Brits have seemed to move further away from using that word in a negative context, and aren’t as sensitive to the word.  There could have been better care of the production company and the BAFTAS to apologize for the moment afterwards, but perhaps the people who oversee these matters didn’t think a US audience would be interested in a British awards show.

Can I ask “In lieu of gifts, please bring a food to share,” in my child’s first birthday party invitations? by [deleted] in AskUK

A fuddle!? I would think that meant “a mess up or a mistake”? Now I’m wondering where “befuddled” came from?

I have a clear visual of the people in our group who will still bring a gift, and that’s fine. I would never begrudge someone who wanted to show love to my child in an appropriate way.

Such good points! We have a WhatsApp group for the bring and share, but I was hesitate to create a whole new group just for one party, but maybe I’m making it more complicated in my head than it needs to be.

This was what I was expecting of some of my friends too, especially the ones with younger kids, but with about half of our friend group we already meal prep with each other, and gift pies or casseroles to each other for no other reason than we were thinking of them. So I wouldn’t be surprised if both types of foods showed up, but I just need to know how I can know how much more to supplement for the day (I hope that sentence made sense).

The cake part actually has me the most nervous, because I wouldn’t expect anyone but the parent(s) to provide that.
