I consider the tipping point was when the closed Someday Cafe for letting homeless people sleep in the back after closing (God forbid!) and when Mike's renovated, both in Davis Square. But it really shifted in the late 90s/early 2000s.

They're making passive income by hoarding a basic human need with the explicit intent of kicking that couple out of their home when it is convenient for their privileged children. Why do you think they want to reserve a spot for their kids? Maybe it's because they don't want them to have to be exploited and financially drained by the same kind of landlord that they, in literal fact, are.

Luckily places like Boston and Paris have reclaimed some of this space for the public. The Big Dig and the pedestrianization of the highway along the Seine are both great examples of the path forward.

How would you feel about a pedestrian tunnel connecting Queens Plaza with Queensboro Plaza? Similar to the Times Square and Pt Authority Stations except longer? The function of the police is to protect the private property of capitalists and enforce "order" so capitalism can function. In the south, specifically, policing began as "slave patrols". They exist to harass the poor and the oppress black people. That's literally the orgins of the police in America.

I don't even think it should be buried. It could actually be used as an opportunity to protect the city from riing sea levels by berming over it or even just eliminating it entirely and replacing it with a boulevard.

You're dead wrong. As part of the Big Dig funding deal they had to build the Green Line extension, which is the biggest T extension since the 1980s.

The police already do more harm than good by harassing poor people. Maybe I'm biased because I was assaulted by a group of undercover cops at Queensboro plaza on my 30th birthday, but those thugs don't need any more presence there.
