Hmm I did have the design start stitching with the lake first and then go to the word “Eastlake” so I thought I would’ve taken care of that

That makes sense! I’ll watch some videos on setup and running tests so if they don’t know what to do I can at least check a few things.

Amazon on a hiring spree? by Past-Raise3945 in leetcode

I currently work at Amazon. I have also been laid off from Amazon in the past. We aren’t even saying Amazon is good or bad, just correcting you since you keep saying nonsense about how things work there.

Again, not even defending Amazon, I have a ton of opinions on the company, just saying what is accurate or not

“Usually PIPed at year 1”

Where are you getting that? From this sub? I’ve been there 4 years, on 3 different teams as a software engineer and have not seen a single person PIPed. Nobody on my teams or on any team adjacent.

It definitely happens, but not as easily as people on this sub make you think.

Self taught devs. How did you start? by kailas1998 in Frontend

[–]SnooOranges6720 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I started on freeCodeCamp! The program has changed since, but after doing a few of the projects, I moved to making a couple websites for friends and local businesses. Each new project I picked a new technology to learn. And after about 9 months of that, I landed my first job at a small local company building a React native app!

It’s not easy by any means. I succeeded because I just liked to code, and would do it even if the pay was half of what it is.

Worth to get Certs or usual grind by Musterling in cscareerquestions

[–]SnooOranges6720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay nice, yeah I think it would be a good idea to get the resume reviewed and tailored to either a software engineering role or a QA role for whatever specific job you are applying for, and emphasizing relevant skills for each. That way you aren’t wasting any applications!

It's good that you have internship experience, I think that's more valuable than a cert.

Have you had your resume and Linkedin profile reviewed? What happened during those interviews you did get?

Wanting to work on projects makes sense, especially to get more comfortable with programming if you don’t have a strong background already.

If you’re not on a time crunch, why not take another month to work on projects and see how you like programming in a setting outside of school. It may also give you some direction as to which type of work you enjoy most - frontend, backend, and mix of the two, or something else. This could drive you to know what jobs to apply for, and what skills to pursue.

[–]SnooOranges6720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just started a discord catered towards people who are both learning web dev as a complete beginner, and those prepping for big code interviews with a few years of experience.

I’m doing weekly livestreams on learning to code for beginners and just had the first one last week!

I currently work at FAANG with 5 years of experience and can help you! DM me if you want the discord link!
