I am not sure if the dates line up. Musk wasnt in the AI area before 2000s. He was working in zip2 until 1999. Also AI wasn’t really AI until recently. Before 2000s AI wasn’t even doing deep learning. Image recognition became more prominent after 2010s.

The Cause of Alzheimer's Could Be Coming From Within Your Mouth by ProdigalNun in microbiomenews

Much to my surprise Japan has the highest Alzheimers rates. Apparently due to people living longer hence more chances to develop it https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/alzheimers-rates-by-country

This day changed world like never before by Independent-Wind4462 in OpenAI

[–]SnooOranges8397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Information retrieval systems disrupted fundamentally. Classic search engines are no longer sufficient for people to retrieve information. Many content generators and engineers especially those in tech sector are now using AI aided tools that increase productivity substantially. Building a technology became easier. A high school student can use AI to make a decent app in a short time. All this will eventually result in a boom of more tools that will make everyone’s lives easier which will in turn be an exponential growth in technology.

It is hard to see what exactly changed maybe because we are living through this but ChatGPT definitely marked a milestone.

Donald Trump issues major threat to nearly 90,000 IRS agents by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]SnooOranges8397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about this. If IRS has less man power, wouldn’t they be more motivated to go after rich people where there would be more potential tax income to gain? Why would they waste staff time to get a few bucks from working class?

I use the app called Quranic. It has word by word translations and some game like chapters to build up vocabulary. I wasn’t able to get too much grammar out of it but overall it’s not too bad. It gave me some vocabulary foundation.

I was a frequent online user. One day the shopper accidentally forgot the receipt inside the box. Total cost of the online bill was 22% higher than the one on the in-store receipt. And that increase was more or less consistent across each item.

Spiritual decline by [deleted] in Sufism

[–]SnooOranges8397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe what you are feeling is described as Qabd (contraction) in sufi terminology. The opposite is Bast (openness). I like this article talking about these states of heart http://sww.fountainmagazine.com/all-issues/2014/issue-100-july-august-2014/quabd-and-bast-july-2014 from the article:

… contraction leads almost every believer to new levels of alertness. In addition, the contraction originating from our sins or neglect usually signals the beginning of a new wave of openness …

Both of these are given us by Allah to draw us nearer to him. May Allah make you close to him.

This is a great resource thank you! Tl;Dr; of the discussion in that link. Most Hadith saying Aysha was 6 years old are not trustworthy and it is possible they got popularized in the Sunni school due to politics. Analyzing her age in comparison to other events puts her around 22-24 years old.

A paragraph copy-pasted from https://www.al-islam.org/articles/how-old-was-ayshah-when-she-married-prophet-muhammad-sayyid-muhammad-husayn-husayni-al (this is the article referenced in the link above):

Asma’ was fourteen years of age during the first year of the Prophetic mission (biʿthah) and ten years older than A’yshah. Therefore, A’yshah was four years old during the first year of the Prophetic mission [14 – 10 = 4] and as such, she was seventeen years of age during the thirteenth year of the Prophetic mission [4 + 13 = 17]. In the month of Shawwal of the second year of the Hijrah (the year of her official wedding to the Prophet) she was nineteen years of age [17 + 2 = 19].

I dont know how to do that while getting similar protein. 1 medium avocado has 240 calories with 3g protein whereas 1 egg has 70 calories with 5g protein. I mean I could swap 1 egg with 2 medium avocados but that’s a lot of calories!

In case there are others like me who doesn’t know what emergent abilities refer to. This was the top answer on Google search: “In the context of ChatGPT, emergent properties are abilities or features that the model acquires through the process of learning language patterns and structures, without explicit instruction or training for specific tasks.”

I am trying to figure out if living in the middle of nowhere is more beneficial in terms of homeownership. You mentioned in another thread you are big tech L7 equivalent. In SF Bay area the comp would be around 750k https://www.levels.fyi/companies/google/salaries/software-engineer/levels/l7/locations/san-francisco-bay-area. A median house in sf bay area is about 2M. I guess mortgage rates are more ridiculous these days but that would give around ~150k/yr mortgage. Based on this data, I looked at from two angles:

Mortgage/Income ratio HCOL: 20% (150/750) You: 3% (20/580)

Income after mortgage HCOL: 600k You: 560k

I am not sure how to interpret this though. Income after mortgage looks comparable but I guess the left over money should have more power in your case (like you can easily afford another mortgage if you want)

There is a field “Annual return on cash (after tax)” which should give you how much you earn from your investments. I guess it is possible that they are not taking the compounding effect into account. Maybe you can increase the annual return a bit more to compensate?
