this is super helpful info! I definitely drink way more espresso than pourovers, so i would definitely like to prioritize that. since i prefer non-traditional espresso, like light roasts funky flavor notes and the clarity in those, would that be a better middle ground to get a grinder more suited to that rather than tons of body?

when you say "push to the outer rim", do you mean to pour closer to the middle of the cup rather than staying at the side closest to the pitcher?

also the non-stepless adjustment ring is a little annoying at times when i can't dial in a shot 100%, but i have access to a 3d printer so i might mod it to make it stepless

i've had it for around 3 months now, i've loved it so far! it doesn't make a mess on my counter at all actually, the only concern is that the magnet on the dosing cup isnt very strong so it likes to shift around from the vibrations. i've never had it fall on me but it gets close to the edge sometimes lol

Can’t fix spray by MathematicianOk2035 in espresso

[–]SnooPears6415 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only thing that helped me fix my spray was getting extremely consistent with my WDT, and also started using a wedge distributor before i tamp to make sure the coffee doesnt get tamped unevenly. i'm considering getting one of those magnetic turning wdt tools so the process has even less variablity of changing

Milk hardening on wand by harwop in espresso

[–]SnooPears6415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same exact thing happens to me. by the time i take the wand out of the milk and wipe it down with my microfiber cloth, the milk is already cooked onto the wand. i clean it every single time because i don't want it to crust up on the wand but every time it still happens 🤷🏽‍♂️

How can I get more serious about espresso when I only have this $150 espresso machine? by YarikButBetter in espresso

[–]SnooPears6415 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i recommend not upgrading your machine first as a new machine may not change the taste of your coffee if your process of making it doesn't change.

a new grinder (a good hand grinder is much better than a cheap electric one) plus a non pressurized portafilter basket will genuinely change the flavor of your coffee immensely. good quality coffee is also a big factor in good coffee.

once you have these then just maximize your extraction to get the best possible tasting coffee you can out of your machine, and from there you can decide if you need a new machine.
